Trip to the Sugar Store!

Hi All!

After we enjoyed the scenery of the arboretum and botanical garden, we went to Galco's Old World Grocery Store in Los Angeles to see some real beauty.

The store stocks all the goodies from the past.  I loved the sights and smells of this store.

It was also a great place to take pictures.

Cherry Mash is a favorite of my sister.  I am going on a road trip with her very soon.  I wonder if Betty got her a little treat to keep her quiet in the car?  Hmmmmm....  I wonder?

Galco's brought back so many memories of the grocery store I used to go to with my mom and dad.

Tomorrow you get to see what I bought there.  Oh!  Ah!

Seems like you had a good time Betty,
I went to LA a few years ago and whilst there met up with Arlee Bird who took us around Hollywood. Wonderful memories.
Enjoy your week-end.
Yvonne.

My Dad says that is a flashback to snack heaven!

That would be a fun store to visit. I'm sure it would stir up many memories for me too.

Such beautiful, toothsome pics.
If I were in that store I don't know that I'd ever be able to leave.

I'm familiar with the candy in the first picture but the rest I've never heard of. None of it is included in my current diet. I want some :)

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh I love Nu Grape. My uncle used to drive a drink truck delivering them to stores. In the summer my cousin and I would ride with him.

I only remember the Bit-O-Honeys. Now they don't make them the same--they taste all waxy. :(

Cool find, though. And the BEST find is YOU! Sooooo glad you are back.

Betty, I was JUST thinking of you the other day! I don't blog nearly as much as I did a few years ago, when many of us wrote new blog posts almost every day, but every now and then I drop in and do a little blog-hopping. I am SO glad I saw that you had a new post and that you are alive and well! Sending you hugs...

Love that stuff! We have a store near us that is chock-full of vintage candy and drinks. You've inspired me to go there tomorrow.

Cherry Mash rules. Well, at least since they stopped making Cherry Humps. Nu Grape is pretty righteous too - my great uncle Irvin usta be a bottler for it and had a Model A Ford with a custom body that looked like a NuGrape bottle.

So glad to see you back!
