Beach Read Day!

Even though we live near the ocean, three of my friends and I decided we don't go to the beach enough, so we organized a Beach Read Day.

We packed up and headed out!

We came prepared!

Before reading though, we had to get that sand between our toes and and enjoy watching the waves.

Then before picking up our books, we decided a stroll along the beach was in order.
This guy decided to join us!

Seriously, were we supposed to be looking down at our pages when there were the flocks of pelicans to watch overhead?

Of course we would read soon, but first we had to chat about what we had been doing in the three days since we had seen each other.

Well, maybe Beach Read Day did turn into Beach Gab Day, but at least our books got out of the house and enjoyed the scenery as well!

Time with friends to enjoy the company and the scenery is just as important!

I could so relate to this. Doug and I enjoy getting away to a nearby state park for an afternoon of reading now and then. Sometimes, we are joined by another couple, friends who also enjoy getting away for an afternoon of reading. But, when the four of us are together, no reading ever gets done. When we allow that to frustrate us, we have to remind ourselves that conversations with friends are important, too. Love the pictures accompanying this post. An interesting array of books.

looks like a good day regardless. I'm sure the books didn't mind.

I live right at the shore and don't go enough! Never can go enough.
Reading in the sun makes my eyes hurt so beach gab days are much better I think ;)

A day at the beach with friends sounds great. But then a day at the beach with a book sounds great too

This sounds like a wonderfully, perfect day. Plus, you can always read your book at home in bed just before you go to sleep, right? :)

Any day at the beach is a good day...books being read or friends gabbing...it's all good.

It so good for books to get out and have a day at the beach.

LOL BB
I don't think I have ever taken a book to the beach. I don't like sun bathing but I do love walking on the beach getting sand between my toes.

What FUN! I always go to the beach with a stack of books to read and end up staring out at the waves instead of reading. The water is just too mesmerizing.

I love this idea. Oh, how I wish I had a beach nearby...

I love the idea of a day for reading on the beach but I can easily relate to letting them gather sand while doing everything but the reading. Ah well.. the books can wait a bit. :)

Hope you get to those reads. I see you are reading Map of the World. I'm almost finished with latest, The Excellent Lombards. Enjoying it.

Have fun at the beach.

Hey you!
Nice that you got your books a little sun, but gabbing would be my preferred pastime at the beach. Nice to see your post!
