Smoky Skies

The current Southern California Wildfire started on the edge of our town.

As a result, the past few days around here have been strange.

Can you see the water helicopter in the above picture?

We are so grateful for the 1000 firefighters at work.

High winds have not been helping the situation.

Lots of smoke and lots of ash falling from the sky!

Zelda is still going outside, but likes the protection of the patio umbrella.

Thanks to all who asked about our well-being!  We are just fine, but eager for fires to be out!

Glad to read that you are safe, but so sad for all those who lost their homes. California firefighters are well known for their bravery and skill. Stay safe!

Glad you are safe. Those clouds almost look like a volcanic eruption. Scary.

How scary that must be! Those are dramatic photos. I'm glad to hear you are safe. I hope they get the fire out soon.

whoa! glad you are OK. That helicopter is so tiny. made me think it is about as effective as spitting on a house fire.

The smell from all that burning must be something!

Glad you're okay!

Clearly, Zelda is not a scairdy-cat!

Hate to see all the nature around destroyed

Scary stuff! We live in the hills also, so whenever it's hot and the Santa Ana winds start up, I hold my breath. I know that in the overall scheme of things, wildfires serve a purpose, but I always worry about the wild animals...

Thankful to know you are ok, but from the looks of things, you are a bit too close for comfort.

This is scary!!! On a positive note, I started oil painting and your photos of the fire are as stunning as any oil painting I've seen. Breath safely and get out if need be!

Glad to hear you are OK! Fires like that are hard to go through and scary. I had a few next to my house. Prayers to all and especially to the firefighters!

I hope the fires are contained, and out, soon. It must be very scary to have them that close.
