My friend K always impresses me with her energy and passion for new ideas.
Recently, she had a stack of books
about decluttering your house and simplifying your life through decorating.
We took the books with us when we went
out to have tea and read through them. I was very inspired! After a very
large glass of a highly caffeinated black tea, I went home and cleared off my
mantle, eager to make my house a haven of peace and serenity.
When I was done, I sent her a picture on my cell phone of the finished
product.
"Congratulations," she wrote back. “You’ve made your
fireplace into Cookie Monster.”
Whoops.

HUGS MADI AND MOM
Ha!!!
Hilarious!! Keep it.
Well, interior decorating can be funky as well.
Good one.
Betty, You gotta learn to get messy. Otherwise known as lived in, aka joie de vivre, all of which happens outside the box.
Hope you're having a beautiful week!
That is hilarious!
Hahaha! Before I even scrolled enough to see more than just the mantle, I immediately saw eyes. Maybe you should paint the brick blue. ;)
Deanna stole my comment. So I'll just suggest you paint crumbs on the hearth.
Haha. I saw a face as well.
Hahaha! The likeness is uncanny :-)
Hafta disagree with you on this one oh Bossy One. All this 'simplifying' is tres chic right now, but really, is it simplifying or bowing to a new trend at 19.95 per book?
I know its a pain to dust, and yes, you can get too much stuff sitting around [ask me how I know], but a lot of that 'stuff' is a part of who you are. It represents things, times, and people that you enjoy[ed] and value enough to memorialise.
Simplifying, or even pursuing a more minimalist aesthetic is fine if thats what YOU really desire, but hang on to the stuff that you enjoy and the things that make you, you.
sermon over...
Hahahahaha!
Oh, your friend is a hoot! So funny.
I completely see that. It would be kind of scary at night.
Oh Betty! I *almost* spit my wine out with that one!
Hahaha! Thanks for the chuckle. :)
Ahahahaha! Well, who doesn't like Cookie Monster? I love him. He's welcome in my home anytime. ;D
I didn't notice it until you said something.....
I didn't notice it until you said something.....
But it looks like a happy cookie monster, so it's okay, right?
Right??
Bahahaha! Love it!
La Maison de Cookie.
Love it!
What a hoot. I'll bet K has you laughing out loud very often.
Loved your two previous posts. I'm so glad you have that very nice man in your life. You deserve him.. and if he's very special, as I'm sure he is, he deserves someone wonderful like you.
Nice seeing your travel photos.. you do get around. :)
Hahahahahahahaha!!!! Priceless! Well done!
haha, that is awesome!
Too funny! I keep telling myself I'm going to declutter.....
Hi Dear One,
I've been away for a while on a chosen and then forced blogging hiatus. Chosen as I wanted to spend more time in the homeland and less in 'waveland'; forced when my trusty computer of 7 years went bust and had to wait for a replacement.
Glad to hear you are doing well these days and I love your cookie monster mantel!
Hugs~
I am so weird that I would put one round mirror next to an oblong one. I like the simplicity of the finished mantle decorations, I bet you will actually be able to keep it uncluttered. I turn each surface into clutter very quickly. I don't know why, just seems to happen.
HAHHAAAA!!! Oh, Betty . . . That makes me laugh out loud!! I needed that, bad!!! LOVE IT!
Hahahahahahahahaha!! Oh, that is awesome. I think you should leave it. :)
Hilarious!
Hahahahahahaha.... I love Cookie Monster. :)
Thanks for my Morning smile.
Here from Hilary's post.
