It's Saturday!
It's also persimmon season around here!
My friend Bev was kind enough to let me come over and stand under her giant persimmon tree and pick as many as I wanted.
The key to enjoying this fantastic fruit is waiting until they are softened up and then they are soooooo sweet!
The waiting is the hardest part.
Here are some of my little beauties that I check every day! I often sing them love songs to soften them up. I'll let you know if this technique works.
I am heading down to southern California this weekend to see a Certain Very Nice Man.
I am plan to walk along the beach, carve pumpkins, and eat at least a pound of Candy Corn.
Hope a CVNM is up for that big of a time! If he is not, maybe I can sing the same songs I use on the persimmons to soften him up. (He's already very sweet. Awwwww......)
Happy Weekend, Everyone!

Hi Betty - sounds an excellent weekend ahead ... have fun - I'm sure he's under your spell already .. and those persimmons look delicious - I'd love to have one fresh from a tree ..
Happy days - cheers Hilary
We planted a new persimmon tree in our colder climate and are now waiting for the three to ripen. Guess I will pick them before the hurricane as they are lovely golden right now.
I've never had a fresh persimmon straight from the tree. It must be wonderful.
Have a great weekend.
They look pretty. I've never tasted a persimmon. Hope you have a wonderful weekend! :)
What a fun weekend! Wait, what's up with this CVNM??? I've been away from blogging most of the summer, so I had to go back and read some of your older posts. Sounds like your having fun! Good for you :-)
BTW, the high here today is 43...UGH!
I've never had a persimmon before. One of these days I'll have to try one. :) Enjoy your weekend with the sweet CVNM!! :)
I don't believe I've ever eaten one.
Enjoy your weekend, Betty!
Walking on the beach - now that sounds good! Enjoy your weekend!
my recently widowed elderly neighbor has two native persimmon trees and somehow he got the idea that I liked them. which I do, a few, but he has been bringing me a bowl of plate full about every other day or so. the native persimmons are small, about half the size of a kiwi. I just smile, thank him profusely, and then dump them on my compost pile.
Persimmons make REALLY amazing cookies. Well, persimmons don't actually bake, there must be a person involved, but once the delectable little orange fruits are baked into cookie form, it's magical. :)
I grew up in southern California and as a kid would climb up persimmon trees for the sweet fruit. They make delicious cookies.
Persimmons always remind me of my Dad. He loved them.
Have a great time Betty
You know...I have never had a persimmon. Must try one.
Sounds like a perfectly lovely weekend.
Enjoy!

I am in DEEP candy corn world. Sooo deep. Either I will gain 50 pounds or all of my teeth will rot out, not sure which will come first. ;-)
Hi BB
We are late to the persimmon party. My human sis and her hubby are here this weekend and Mom tries not to invade their space upstairs. MOL
We expect CVNM can be easily charmed with a great big BB smile.
Oh we are going to do at Looking up Thursday post this week.
Hugs Madi and MOm
Heading down to SoCal are you, if I had known you were coming I would have baked a cake :)
hope you have a great trip...and singing love songs to them...big smiles...
Finally had my fill of candy corn though if I see it on sale I probably won't resist.
I was off having my own wonderful weekend, so am trying to catch up a bit. I'm thinking that ACVNM may be in line for a new name...as ACVNM is a bit clunky, don't you think? (Not that I've got any good suggestions for names to help you out here...)
:)
