Monday Morning Flowers and Weekend Update!

Happy Monday!

Hope you had a good weekend.

The good news is that I checked out of the hotel on Friday and am back home.

I also got out of town and went to the Hollywood Bowl to see A Prairie Home Companion.

It was a beautiful California summer night.

The next day it was back home to the renovations.

This is the master bathroom at this point.

Here is the patio area.  I found my drawer of silverware out there.  Bonus!

We have a toilet in the hall bathroom now!  Whooooo!  Still no sinks, but I am getting very good at brushing my teeth in the bathtub.

I love eating out as much as the next person, but I am a little sick of it.  Since I have no kitchen to speak of, I dug the toaster oven out of the garage and brought the microwave in from the back yard and actually made a meal for myself!

Speaking of the garage, conditions there are not much better.

However!  A Certain Very Nice came up from his home (he lives about an hour away) and helped me move some furniture and now I even have a bed to sleep in!  Hurrah for normality!

OK, OK, now that I have forced you to view all those pictures,  you finally get your flower!

Thanks for all your encouragement as my house undergoes big changes.

Hope you have a great week ahead!

Ah to have you own bed after all this time, I'm sure you had one heck of a good nights sleep!

Ah, the simple comforts of a home cooked meal and one's own bed.
Life is truly looking up for you, Betty.

I have to admit that I experienced a shudder when I read "but I am getting very good at brushing my teeth in..." You can imagine my relief when I read "the bathtub."

You know, I cannot WAIT for these reno's to be done. I'm sure you can't either. However, I feel your pain. After moving, I still have two rooms full of "stuff" that look like your garage. And I don't even know where I'm going to put it.

What a nice break, A Prairie Home Companion! We live near Lake Woebegone. ;-) Renovation is such a pain, but so nice when finished!!

I know that you have silverware, and a toaster oven, but I see no evidence of plates! At least you have your own space and bed to collapse onto, and your own pillow potentially to weep into, should conditions warrant.*

Now all you need is a fainting couch in full view of the project foreman.

*What's your opinion on split infinitives? I personally couldn't care less, but then it's impossible to split one in French anyway.

I think I would have lost my mind by now. You are going to appreciate your home so much after all this.

How fun that you got to go to the Hollywood Bowl. My aunt and uncle took us there when we were out visiting a few years ago. Neat place. I can't recall ever going during the years I spent growing up in California.

It's starting to come together! And doesn't everyone store their silverware on the patio?

You may have initially thought that the leak, or whatever caused the reason for the overhaul was a major problem. But now your home is being completely redone, to YOUR liking. This will be YOUR home, to YOUR tastes. You didn't have to leave the home you loved; you just changed it up a little. :)

We saw A Prairie Home Companion a few years ago at the Greek. Such fond memories (except for the guy who loudly shoveled popcorn in his mouth over and over... he should have been done a lot sooner, but he kept dropping it... zoiks!).

Looks like your house is coming along. And the fact that you can safely plug things into the outlet seems huge.

BB you are most certainly a very flexible, adaptable soul!! Bless your heart. I know what you mean about eating out. Our kitchen remodel took 5 weeks. Thankfully our old fridge stay put until the new one arrived so we were able to at least have cereal at home but the other two meals were here and there.

Hurray for a bed and a toilet and running water. :D And also, hurray for a certain very nice man! One step at a time, you're getting there. Thank you for the lovely flower.

A bed to sleep in and cooking in your own kitchen, you're getting there :)

There is nothing like getting your kitchen (or, for that matter, your whole house) back and in working order and even better than before. You feel like a little girl with a new playhouse.

Renovations are like a marathon, aren't they? At least with your bed and a couple of appliances (and a loo!) you can start to feel the end is in sight.
