Betty's Big Mess

Hi everybody!

Still renovating here...

Yikes.

I had no idea what I was getting myself into.

Just when I think it can get any messier....

This lovely stuff was above Evan's bed.
It was still wet from a storm that caused the original damage--three years ago.

The painters are finishing up the ceilings while the electricians rewire the whole house.

So...that's the report from here!  I am pretty much a nomad, spending the days in the garage, organizing my stuff.  I miss writing and I miss my schedule, but it's pretty exciting seeing the changes taking place!

I'll check back in soon!

I cannot stand renovations... like Alex says, they're brilliant when they're done but, oh, in the meantime...

You are almost there, HANG ON!! It will be nice to know that the place is in good shape, cleaned up, freshly painted and ready for a new beginning around there. You'll be glad it was done....about 2 years down the road and after you recover! ;)

A mess for sure, but on its way to being fabulous.

I have a feeling it's just on the cusp of starting to show progress. Soon you'll see glimmers of the finished product, and it will all be worth it.

In the meantime, enjoy this preview of your "crazy cat lady living in a hoarded mess" years.

WOW Betty, when you said renovations in the first post, I though oh some cosmetic updates. This post just prove me wrong!

That's some major overhauling you are dealing with. I know in the end, you'll be thankful. It is hard, right in the middle of the mess. Just keep your eyes on the end result, can't wait to see your pics once it gets there.

So sorry for this horrendous disruption, but it is necessary for health and safety. My daughter is undergoing a kitchen renovation with 2 toddlers and a 6-year-old and they spend most of their time in the basement these days...only 3 more weeks.

I am so excited for you! My man loves to demolish things inside the house but that's where it stops. I am left with the demolishment. And yes,..that is a word cuz I said so. So...do you mind if I live vicariously through you?

I feel for you. lol I just moved across the country and am in the middle of redoing things and unpacking and my house is in complete chaos. I just keep trying to focus on how great everything will look when it's finished. I'm sure you'll be thrilled when it's all done. Hang tough!

My heart bleeds for you, been doing this on the same house for 6 years now and I wonder if it will ever be done with!

Chaos and this type of remodel go together. Consider it fodder for future posts. I'm sure as you sort through things, you are having many memories come flooding through your heart and mind. That too can be healing, but not doubt adds to the feeling that things are out of control. Of course they are just that way. Soon order will reign supreme again, and it will be the order that you create all on your very own (with the help of all those workman).

Frustrating now, but exciting too, I bet. I see one of the kitties checking the progress in the first picture :) Hang in there.

I'm excited to see the finished product. At least you're getting it all done at once, right? That'll be nicer than doing little bits here and there.

Jennifer Shirk said...

WOW. That'll keep you busy for a while. I'm excited to see the outcome.
