Poetry Tuesday: "Clock" by Linda Pastan

Clock

Sometimes it really upsets me—
the way the clock's hands keep moving,

even when I'm just sitting here
not doing anything at all,

not even thinking about anything
except, right now, about that clock

and how it can't keep its hands still.
Even in the dark I picture it, and all

its brother and sister clocks and watches,
even sundials, all those compulsive timepieces

whose only purpose seems to be
to hurry me out of this world.

If you find a way to stop time, let me know!

Morning BB
What a creative post!! I bet you are doing lots of clock watching this week as your semester draws to a close.

What amazes me is that these clocks go much faster these days! Must be changes in the gears.

Some days my clocks seem to spin faster than others. Happy Tuesday! ☺

Yes, the clock goes fast, except on Monday, but the flowers help!

Well ain't that the truth. Some of them dragging, some of them speeding, but all of them implying that I've not enough time for something or other...

And the older I get, the faster they move :)

Oh no!! Turn away from these crazy clocks!! I say look to the moon and the sun instead - prettier and more ethereal! Ok, maybe not at the sun cos you'll burn your eyes - but watching clocks marking time is not good! :-)

Take care

Very delightful poem. Time feels so very relative and the clock shows us that it is not. Although these days I wish that time would hurry up...

The clock it ticks and ticks,
Making all my days go by so quick,
Thats why when I want some extra time,
I brake out a hammer and smash it.

Ok so that doesnt rhyme but it works!

yeah, I heard an interesting thought on the radio the other day; why does 10 minutes of snooze time fly by when 10 min. of waiting for an appt. drag on...aren't they both 10 min.?

Perfect. That is exactly how I feel about clocks

Funny how my clock at work is sooooo slow and yet the one I am looking at home when it's the weekend or vacation just seem to FLY!

Time is like a run-away train. It just never stops...

Love this! And I do feel like I'm being pushed along at a rate that's too fast for me. :)
