Birthday Party at Betty's

Last weekend my friend Kitty turned 55 and we had the party at my house!

I made it a 50's/60's theme and had a great time digging out some of my vintage glassware.

It was fun decorating my house.
That spinning tray held Crackerjacks, Salt Water Taffy and Candy Cigarettes. Yum!

I made my living room into a little mini-bistro for the dinner portion of the evening.

"Happy Birthday to You" sounds great when played on a banjo.
(That's Kitty's husband, Jim.)

More entertainment for the Birthday Girl. These three are childhood friends, reuniting to sing a song Jim wrote for Kitty after their first date. It was very sweet!

Alas, near the end of the evening, I fell to the lure of the wild life--candy cigarettes, Diet Pepsi, and the company of one of the disreputable band members.

It was a fun party!

I spied the gal in the back with her lighter on for the band---no doubt THAT was SOME party!!! :)

I had to quit those candy cigarettes years ago---very addictive.

Those Candy Cigarettes can sure get a girl into trouble! ☺ If you ever decide to quit teaching, you could make it as a party planner. Looks like a very fun time was had by all the attendees. Happy Wednesday! ☺

What a great idea. It looks like everyone had a great time. You're so creative.

Back in the day when we all enjoyed those candy cigarettes, 55+ looked so old. Now.. you all look like young pups. Perspective is everything.

Oh yeah, it's hard to tell which one of you looks more disreputable in that last photo. :)

It sounds like everyone had a great time! I was finding papers for taxes this weekend instead. I wish you'd invited me!!

You did a wonderful job Betty.

And, I'll look for the article in your local news--the one that details when the police were called to break up the revelry.

What a fun party! I haven't seen candy cigarettes in years. We lived way out in the boonies on dirt roads when I was a kid. My mom would let me drive our old Chevy and take my cousin/best friend a few blocks to a Hostess bakery outlet where we would buy a pop and candy cigarettes. We'd then "smoke" them as we drove home. I was probably 12 or 13 at the time but we thought we were really grown up. Ha!

I love that your parties often have candy cigarettes in them!!! SO FUNNY!!! And the mini-cafe tables are adorable. What a great way to set up a room. I just love these little looks into your world, Betty. I love the smiles, too. This looks like a wonderful group of people to be spending time with.

Hugs!

Now that sounds like a party!! My birthday is in July....what do you have planned?

Looks and sounds fun, especially the candy cigarettes. I'm inclined to ask, though I probably shouldn't so I won't...Is the disreputable man single (FOR YOU, not me)? You two look cute together. But I won't go there, 'cuz that'd be disreputable of me.

Be well.

The best cigarettes are the ones after a good meal and... something else, I can't remember. LOL! Hope the candy cigarettes were satisfying, too!

I like the idea of a bistro in your living room for dinner.
And the last photo is fun! It seems so weird now to see a photo of someone "smoking", yet it was commonplace not that long ago!
