My New Year's Trip

We have some catching up to do, apparently.

For New Year's I flew out to see Sonny Boy and his girlfriend in Virginia. It was the first time I had seen them since they moved. I loved seeing them and their new home.

Since Sonny Boy and Girlfriend do not allow their pictures on this blog, I had to stand in.
Too much Betty in one post?

Oh yes.

I got to visit VT, home of the Hokies!

My friend Steve lives in West Virginia, but came down to see me.
We met in college about 34 years ago and have kept in touch over the years.
He is a sweetie indeed.

Betty and field at VT. It is a beautiful campus!

OH! OH! OH! We got to go to Mt. Airy, North Carolina, home of Andy Griffith and the town Mayberry of the "Andy Griffith Show" was based on.

I am sort of a freak about the show, owning every episode and knowing far too much about each and every one. I had SO much fun going to the museum and the town!

Sonny Boy and his girlfriend were very patient as I took in all the sights and participated in racy activities like the one above.

I couldn't think of a better place to start this exciting new year.

Seeing my beloveds in their new home, exploring this part of the US, and visiting Mt. Airy?

It all made Betty greet the new year with a smile.

Hope your New Year was just as good.

Oh it's great to see your smile! It's also great to see that even though you live in sunny CA you were able to find a nice, fashionable winter coat ;o)

Morning BB!!
Oh Virginia Tech is in one of my favorite mountain cities...I'm so jealous but it looks like you enjoyed it enough for both of us.

LOL we have friends we visited each August. They live about 40 minutes from Mt. Airy/Mayberry. Were were there in August of 2011. What a quaint little town. I bet it was pretty during Dec. We had a ball sitting on main street watching the world go by and lo and behold we was Barney's patrol car cruising too. Evidently they have tours of the city using that car.

AS per usual those were GREAT pictures of our beautiful BB.
I LOVE YOUR SMILE.
Hugs Madi and Mom

Oh my, you were so close to visiting me! Well, a lot closer than California, anyway. Sounds like the perfect New Year's getaway.

I adore your bright pink gloves.

I love the old Andy Griffith shows, too, and continue to watch them whenever I can find an episode on television. I'm glad your new year got off to such a good start. Your big smiles in this post make the day brighter for everyone.

Oh Betty, I'm so glad you got to see Sonny Boy, but I kind of wish I'd known you were in Mt. Airy. I live only a half hour away and it would have been so great to meet you. Maybe next trip.

I'm from West Virginia, and we call their football team the Chokies. Not the Hokies. :-D

Don't they have a beautiful campus, though?

All that stone.

Glad you got to go visit, Betty. You're looking good, girl!

Too much Betty? Nonsense. I wasn't aware though that children of bloggers had a choice as to whether or not they are to appear on ones blog. Please don't tell mine they have options :)
Glad you started 2012 off right

BETTY!!! You were practically in my BACKYARD and you didn't let me know! I would have so met you in Mt. Airy! Or even Virginia.

I love VA Tech! My aunt used to teach there and my brothers and I loved going up there for football games. I'm so glad you made the trip. Just a bit further south and you could have visited me! I'm glad your birthday went well. I thought about you all through the holidays. I can't believe you had to go divorce related meetings on your birthday though. Bad timing. Hugs to you Betty!

You are such a HOOT ...

Betty..

During my trip to the mountains,
we drove over to Mt.Airy.. had not been there in almost 40 years..
a usual vacation stop over when I was
a young thing living at home and forced to go on family visits to my
grandmother... she lived in Mt. Airy.
small world isn't it.
