As many of you may know, I am doing my best to skip Christmas this year.
Most of my friends at work know this, so when my good friend presented me with string of lights that called out "HO, HO, HO," I glared at her and said, "What are you thinking?"
She quickly pointed out that by flipping them around they read "OH, OH, OH."
Since this is what I frequently say when grading papers (in a groaning voice), it seemed totally appropriate to hang them above my computer.
Oh. Oh. Oh.
Yeah. That sums it up nicely. Don't you think?

Note: Why yes, that IS a tiara on my shelf!
And yes, I DO wear it occasionally.
Is that a problem?
And yes, my observant readers! Those ARE Bump-Its to the right of the tiara. After reading hundreds of essays and going a little insane, my co-workers and I sometimes resort to sticking Bump-Its on our heads and puffing up our hair like prom queens while we drink highly-caffeinated beverages and eat candy.
OH. OH. OH.
Is it the end of the semester yet?
OH. OH. OH.

I want to work in your department.
There nothing wrong with wearing a tiara. I wear one every day. Where's the job postings page? I want to work with you. Happy Thursday! ☺
I would so leave those lights up all year and wear the tiara not only in my office but in my classroom, in my car, shopping at the store, home and even when I go to bed.
Yes, I deserve it and who gives a damn what others might say about it.
Merry OH! OH! OH! to you.
Oh, oh, oh- I'm with ya there about grading the papers. And, I think I will utilize your tiara idea tomorrow when I walk into class-
Off color, but, you inspired me:
"oh, oh, oh, is what is moaned by a ho ho ho"
:-D
My friend told me that the party girl who parks herself underneath the "kissing bough" is a mistle-ho.
So there you go!
i love the lights turned around.Pretty funny
That fits you so well!
The gift was perfect. YOu cannot ignore the holiday, but you can laugh through it while you wait for it to go away.
Do they have lights that groan? My teacher friend does a lot of that!
Betty - I totally get it - it almost feels fake going through the holiday motions...
Let's hope 2012 brings joy and happiness (and mucho healing) to both of us!!
You've got me smiling this morning. It's actually a very beautiful tiara. And I enjoyed the word picture of teachers wearing such headgear while grading papers and murmuring "OH OH OH." :)
I remember a few Oh, Oh, Ohs! when I was grading papers.
Oh BB! What is a bump-it?!?!!? LOL! Oh oh oh! Look at that gorgeous tiara though! Yay! Take care
x
Oh Oh Oh BB you are too much!!
You make the best lemonade in the entire country.
Hugs and blessings,
Madi and Mom
I'll try to find you some lights that say "LEON."
Now THAT'S creative! Oh Oh Oh!
We need to see a photo of you in front of the Oh-oh's wearing your tiara. Yeah. That would be OUR Christmas present!
Love the OH OH OH.
Funny post Betty :-) Can I join you in skipping Christmas? I have way too way to do......
Bah Humbug!
I have no idea what a bump-it is. Does that make me pathetic?
I'll join you in the no-Christmas thing. It's just a drain of money.
Yes, please explain the bump-it thingy!
Hmm. Now I'll have to google "bump-its," though I think I can guess.
I can relate to the oh, oh, oh. I've done my share of paper grading and/or proofing. so many seem to be: take one subject, and one predicate... sprinkle with punctuation to taste.
I can't imagine having several section's worth. Ugh.
Still, you've reminded me of a post I culled from some of these. I'll repost it tomorrow, just for you, my dear.
Ha ha!
When I get stressed, I find myself saying "crap. crap. crap."
Same idea except I've never seen it in lights.
Your friend was brilliant and you are fabulous :)
I've been trying to avoid Christmas for several years. While I can't ignore it completely, I'm always quite relieved when it's over. Love the lights... how perfect for the way I feel about the whole thing. Bah humbug, oh oh oh.
Hope you can avoid it . I think the Oh Oh Oh is just so much fun!
I took the opposite tack and refused to allow his selfishness to ruin things for me.
On Valentine's Day I bought napkins that said, "Mildly Disappointed Day" because that's all I wanted it to be.
LOL It's kinda like turn that frown upside down...and you get a smile!
You Rock Betty~
Hugs~
PS I had a tiara on all morning today...mood enhancer!
Oh dear. I hope you get through the end of the semester! Then I hope you have a relaxing break.
I have a tiara at work too! It's the best way to remind them of who is the "Queen!"
the lights are perfect. I want a set of those.
I don't have a tiara but I do have an indian chief headdress :)
I didn't know what a bump-it was but now I do. In our office at school we have a stuffed falcon with an evil eye we place on each other's desk when we need reminded to laugh instead of growl.
Too funny. I have a bump it and I LOVE it! :)
Love it! It reminds me of the "MOM" necklace my kids made me. I would wear it proudly. There was just one problem. The letters kept flipping over when I wore it. Folks when then ask why I was wearing the word, "WOW" around my neck.
Oh, Oh, Oh. I am going to steal that idea.
Those lights are perfect. You work with some very cool ladies.
xo jj
Lemon out of lemonade!
Haha. I love those lights!! How perfect!! I hope you survive the end of the semester. :)
Oh, and ps, I think it's awesome that you have a tiara. ;)
COOL! I'm glad the spirit is there somewhere.
Now THAT'S funny!
Love those lights and the thought of Christmas with a tiara on drinking champagne and just being me - sounds excellent .. then some cranberry breads .. too delicious - and lots of good sleep - sounds like your kids do that to you .. with thoughts - Hilary
Oh my friend.. you are a RIOT ...
love the tiara ... so where is the photo of you wearing it ????
You always can find the funny side of life my friend! Oh oh oh.... big hugs!
xo Catherine
I would prefer to skip it every year! Oh Oh Oh! I never get to though. If not for our millions of kids and grandkids, I could ignore it all get together...
You are too funny. I suspect it would be a blast to work with you... bump its and all.
