Get 'Er Done Betty!

OK, Remember when I pruned the lemon tree in the back yard?

Well, of course, the next logical step would be for me to tackle some plumbing issues around here.

I am proud to announce that yesterday morning, aided by YouTube videos, I fixed my toilet AND I snaked my bathroom sink drain!

Wooooooo!

Bringing up gunk from the deep recesses of the pipes beneath the sink with the snake, plunging my arm down into the tank of the toilet and messing with the flapper, it was all very, very satisfying.

In the afternoon, I went on to throughly clean my car, and double-stack coupons at one of my favorite stores.

Yeah!

Who's the woman?

Betty is!

I am drained from all the activity but flushed with satisfaction.

Happy Sundays to you all!

O.M.G. Snaking the sink?! You are a much better man than I, Gunga Din. I dread doing that, and I so have to.

But good for you. I'm very proud of you. And the toilet too! Yay for Betty!!!

Even with a man in the house, I find those same things satisfying to do. Something about taking a job that is 'for the man of the house' and crushing the stereotype to pieces that can be such an ego booster.
Good job Betty!

Well done! I 'YouTubed' to find out how clean our blocked toilet after Son filled it - no, don't worry I won't go into details but Hubby got it cleared. Hurrah for YouTube and hurrah for Bossy Betty!

Well of course your toilet was clogged if there was a flapper in there. What was she doing, running a speakeasy? Very brave of you to mess with her.

I still find satisfaction in finding $200 still in my wallet, where it belongs, after snaking. Not so much in the snaking itself anymore, though. That gets old. Like my hundred year-old house with its hundred year-old cast iron pipes.

I once got my then eight year-old out of bed to help me. He was horrified. Ah... you see, my son, one day all this will be yours. Isn't adulthood awesome? See, I can do anything I want! As soon as I'm done scraping unspeakable filth out of the sewer main, that is.

p.s. sometimes there's clean-out access after the trap on a sink. If you have a deep-down clog, if you can pour Drano down that, you can often save yourself the snaking. Just a thought.
