Poetry Tuesday: "Faults" by Sara Teasdale

Faults

They came to tell your faults to me,
They named them over one by one;
I laughed aloud when they were done,
I knew them all so well before,—
Oh, they were blind, too blind to see
Your faults had made me love you more.

Just goes to show you that people need to mind their own business. Love the poem. And it is probably all very true. Thanks.

There was a time in my life when this concept didn't mean anything to me. And now I'm so happy it does!

Beautiful...that reminds me of the definition of a friend that I read many years ago.
Friend: someone who knows all about you and loves you anyway...

Wouldn't that be a nice thought, for your faults to cause someone to love you more?

Warts and all. That's what love is all about. I enjoyed this one, Betty. Happy Tuesday to you! :)

BB! You are wasting away! And HOB also! Better make some cookies!!

I'm with Eva above - maybe we don't so much love people because of their faults as we love them despite their faults ... we may love them because of their quirks, which is something different again. You've made me think, though. I might change my mind if I think about it long enough :)

Incredible. Funny how faults are sometimes the most endearing part of one's significant other.

cute poem but I must say I don't love my husband more because of his faults, I love him in spite of his faults :)

One person's fault is another's endearing quirk. Loved this.
