Vintage Betty

Hello my people.

School's been keeping me busy, busy, busy and my right paw has been sore from typing so much, writing on the board, and pounding on the desk for more cookies.

Therefore, instead of my usual deep, meaningful mid-week commentary on life, love, and/or whether or not soft serve ice cream should be served in a cone or in a dish, I thought I'd show you some pictures I took for my friend Julie.

Julie has been collecting vintage clothing and jewelry for years and this past weekend she sold it all to give to a local charity that is helping her sister-in-law in her fight on cancer. I took these pictures for the website advertising the sale.

I had a good time taking the pictures and imagining a bygone era.

Hope you enjoy looking at them!

Great photos, Betty. I hope these items bring much-needed funding for your friend's sister in-law. I used to collect vintage ties. They were so cool back then. I seldom wore any of them, but loved looking at them and the fabric was scrumptious.

Great photos for a beautiful heart. I love vintage clothing but then I'm vintage.

Now why don't you have a desk plaque made to read, "Cookies required to pass." Easier on your hand :)

You did a beautiful job on the photos. Everything was artfully arranged and placed on a perfect background.

I'm having trouble with my right arm, too. The doctor has me on ibuprofen...about twice the amount recommended on the bottle, and I'm to wear a carpal tunnel splint. Plus...and this is the hard part...I'm to cut back on my computer usage for at least six weeks! Hopefully, yours will improve when school is out, without such drastic measures.

Very nice idea to raise some funds. I like the feathers on the one tie. Don't put one on very often where it used to be a daily occurence.

Fantastic images which I'm sure helped raise a lot of money for Julie's beautiful pieces (I love vintage as there's always a story.).

Prayers to Julie's sister-in-law.

Really great pictures Betty. Those mens ties are really cool. Seeing the white gloves brings back memories when girls and women wore white gloves and hats to church. That's a true sign I'm getting old!! haha.

You did beyond great with the photos! Makes me wonder what my sister has done with all my Mothers' costume jewelry. She had tons of it! Is the first photo a hat? Looks very much like the ones I used to wear on Easter.

I especially love the tie shot. I don't know why, but I love the contrast of the colors on the black background. These are really nice photos. I hope everything works out for her well!

Your photos always have a Stevensian quality about them, getting at the reality underneath the surface, like Platonic shadows come to life in versicolored very-verisimilitude.

Wow. What a great thing that was to do! I sure hope she made a lot of money by selling those lovely things. And yes, they are LOVELY!

Isn't the end of the year nuts?! I'm going crazy with lists of things I need to do each day. I have to take a day or two off to just breathe or I'm gonna lose it!!! Arrrgggghhh!
