Thanks

Thanks, everyone for your very kind comments on my last post. We are trying to get back on track here. The house seems incredibly quiet now.

I think even these two miss their dog sister. (Maddie was always very loving towards them.) They are hanging out together much more than they used to and yesterday I witnessed this rare exchange of affection.

Naturally, once they discovered the paparazzi was around, ruining their moment of trail intimacy, their blissful expressions turned to annoyance and I was dispatched immediately to go practice what they consider to be my greatest talent: using my agile digits to open a can of Fancy Feast.

(Little do they know, since I am a teacher, I am used to seeing these sorts of facial expressions. They serve only to encourage my behavior.)

Happy Sunday to you all.

Thanks again for your support and kind words.

It meant more than you will ever know.

I am so sorry for your loss...
I went back and read your previous post...
Loosing a pet is the actually a very painful loss as their love is unconditional.
One of your cats resembles my Batcat a great deal.
Have a lovely Sunday,
xoxo

I've just been catching up on your posts and I am so sorry for your loss too. These little friends get deep into our hearts and it is so sad when we lose them On a happier note that photograph of your two cats is priceless. They look like my son does when he's rather cross with me.
Hugs to you and fond wishes

Animals do know when something is wrong or missing in the house. After my husband died, our dogs moped around for about 2 weeks. Always going into the bedroom to see if he was still there. They are really smart so it doesn't surprise me that cats are feeling it. Great pictures.

I'm glad they have each other, and that you have them. It's not easy. There's still one cat I can't even talk about without crying.....

Seconding what's been posted above, I hope your Sunday is an easier one.

Cats can say so much with just a look. :-)

Thinking of you, Betty. Hugs to you.

Having had a dog and a cat at the same time and saw their expressions I think we can learn much from animals.

Have a peaceful Sunday.

That photo is PRICELESS! I love the disgusted face/Yoda ears combo--a sure sign you've annoyed the cat.

Thank goodness they are there to keep you laughing. :)

Hugs for the week ahead, my friend. Losing a dog friend takes a long time to heal.

Cuties! The tuxedo looks almost exactly like ours. I wonder if she is as snooty as ours is?

What is it about cats? Instead of "meow" they should go "meh?"

I read through your archives on Maddie and I feel as though I knew her too. I know that she is irreplacable and will always retain her special place in your heart! I also know how sad it is witnessing the grieving that the other animals in the house go through when one of their companions is no longer there.(((( Big hug )))

Pets miss their buddies too.

Cats are so good at that superior scowl. I think they can't really help it, it's just how their faces go.

I know each time one of my pets pass away, the other pets morn for them. It's hard on the family all around including the four legged ones.

I know those looks. I've seen them on my children and grandchildren when I get out the camera.

Again, I'm sorry for the loss of dear Maddie. I'm not sure we ever get used to having those dear companions around. Even the four legged companions must deeply sense the loss.

Mabel and Zelda you two are looking quite precious today. Be sure to give Mom lots of kitty kisses after she serves your FF.

Too funny the kitties don't realize after raising to boys and teaching teens no much ruffles BB's pretty golden locks.
Hugs Madi and Mom

It's really neat how animals know something is different. I think it's sweet that they are finding support with each other.

I'm glad to hear that you are doing better. I know it was a difficult time...

I missed the Maddie post, but since read it. Wow, I have never been so moved by a death of a pet post. My condolences to you, but think how great a time Maddie is having!

I had 2 chocolate labs at one time and when we had to have one put down the other was lost. The whole time we had her she never used to bark, didn't have to because the other one did it ALL the time. After he was gone she took up the job of barking at people walking down the street. It was odd to hear her do it.
The look on those cats faces is priceless. They really do look like they are saying "what do you think you are doing" At least they have each other for company

That is so funny- cats are just like that! I've considered another kitty but haven't decided yet. Not quite sure how Tucker would like that.

Oh Betty, I'm so sorry. I didn't know. My power's been out for days.

I'm sure Daddy will take care of her. I'm sure he'll have met her with a ball and a bowl of water.

Betty, I'm so terribly sorry. It just hurts so much to lose someone you love like that. But she's in a much better place.

Godspeed Maddie.

Betty, I am so so sorry to hear of the passing of your precious Maddie. I am certain by now, Maddie has found your Daddy and they are sitting watching you from above with your father's gentle hand on Maddie's head stroking that lovely fur.
Pets are incredible but saying good bye is so very difficult.
All my love and hugs to you during this difficult time.
