My 94 year old FIL would love this post. He and my MIL (deceased 9 years ago) played scrabble every single night for almost 60 years! He still has his record-keeping book of each and every single game they played. We played with him after my MIL died, but he's really quite competitive (about all games!) and so it wasn't much fun. I've never been a 'games' person, anyway, so it was hard to keep it up.

Here is probably a shocker to you, but I have never played scrabble in my life and I hate board (bored)games. Wish I could learn to like them, but I do love playing cards :)

Scrabble is one of my all-time favorite games! I just can't get anyone around here to play it with me. :(

Have a great weekend, Betty!

I used to play scrabble with my mother, but I haven't played it in years. Should try one of the online versions of it. Happy Friday, BB.

My mom is a whiz at Scrabble and sometimes plays it online. I've never caught the bug.

Have a great weekend! :)

I'm pretty sure that playing Scrabble against you is fairly low on my list of smart things to do... I'd lose in a blink of an eye, lol! :) Happy weekend, BB!

Fun pics. So nice of you to place the U near the Q. ;)

I just learned how to play a boardless version of Scrabble called Banana. Three or four players are given a dozen or so tiles each and once and play simultaneously to use them all in their own personal grid. When someone accomplishes that, they call out "Banana" and everyone, including that individual takes an additional tile from the face down pile and tries to make that work. You can rearrange as needed but the words must work in true scrabble file. The first to use all their letters once the reserve pile is empty, wins. The score is acquired by other players' unused tiles. It was more fun than it might sound here. ;)

A challenge I am always ready to take on. I used to play one lady who was a proofreader for a newspaper and she was a tough cookie.

Oh this reminds me...I need to get scrabble for the game room! Have a great weekend.

Ha! Have not played Scrabble in years, though we used to love it. Totally different strategies, though: Mr. L-S going for the triple words & double, triple letter combos (i.e., points), me searching for the words. Sigh...

And don't get me started on Monopoly ;)

Have a great weekend, Betty!

My day consists of last minute prep for a bridal shower I'm throwing tomorrow (yay!), waiting to find out if my trip for next week has been canceled and whether or not I'll be furloughed on Monday.

I love your pretty flower header and matching background! We love scrabble and I used to use all the letters in one turn quite a bit. We have about three different kinds of sets, and a scrabble dictionary! And my daughter-in-law makes jewelry out of the scrabble squares!!

(Brian - CUTE!)

Love this post! My best play ever - JAILBIRD - the L was already in place - B on double letter - J and D on triple word scores. So I used all my letters spanning two triple word scores - 239 points!

I'll never come close to that again!

Absolutely LOVE Scrabble (and most other word games). I introduced MC to scrabble when he was a little thing - we don't play much any more as we are both uber-competitive and it can get kind of ugly....I may have to challenge him to a game this weekend.

Ann said...

I haven't played that game in years. I think I took a dislike to it when my mother used to always point out that my words weren't real ones.
Happy Friday to you

Betty,
I love Scrabble but more than that, I love beating my husband at Scrabble...we've been known to throw some boards and toss tiles when one of us is losing. It's pretty hysterical...
Have a great weekend!

Very clever use of the Scrabble game... I love the pictures (and the game).

On the whole, I'm not much for games. A previous commenter already said it, "bored" games, but Scrabble I like.

Cribbage, too. Not sure why those two.

Happy Friday to you too....

I never carried for scrabble...
but backgammon is another
story... I love it.

When you say Triple Word Scores, you're not implying I have to play Scrabble with my kids again are you? I always get my butt kicked by words meant to describe various body parts.

Shhhh - It's three am, does my son know where his notebook is....
My electrical karma continues to blow up things and I do so wish I still had teenagers, the scrabble squares did it... :}

My kids won't play with me any more, I'm thinking of visiting a nursing home for a captive audience to talk to.....

I'm a terrible Scrabble player. I always end up with W, Z and V, with no way to use them I end up making words like - pea or fall. I'm not going to beat anyone with a cumulative score of 26.
