Betty's Vacation Pics

A few months ago, I realized that there would be a week or so in December when both boys were out of school, I was off work, and HOB could get time off. We decided to go somewhere we had never been.

Can you guess where we went?

Need another hint?

Yes, indeed. We enjoyed a day or two in Seattle before boarding a ferry and heading over to Victoria, B.C. It was our first time in Canada.

Betty gives Canada Two Big Thumbs Up!

We visited the Butchart Gardens and enjoyed their Christmas displays.

The next day we headed to Sooke and had a fabulous time!

We visited Sooke Rotary Pier.

We found our way to Whiffen Spit and walked to the end of it.

We went to Sooke Pot Holes and enjoyed the beauty there.

We toured the Victoria Museum and found this Wooley Mammoth.

The next day we headed back to Seattle for another day of exploring. We went on the Underground Tour and walked around the city.

Then it was back home to California. We had a wonderful time!

As with all vacations, this one took a lot of coordinating, planning, money, and patience, but it was all worth it. Really, with vacations, you just have to stab a date on the calendar, commit to it and make it happen. It's so easy to put them off and to think "some day," but days have a way of turning into years and then it's even harder.

I am so glad Sonny Boy, Evan, HOB, and I had this time together. Thanks for coming by and sharing it through pictures!

Happy Wednesday!

Your pics are gorgeous...would this be your new camera?
I thought Mammoths were extinct...who would have thought they still have them in Canada?

Victoria ia a fun town, they have the oldest Chinatown in North America.I have spent a couple vacations in all that area.

You are spot on with having to just commit to vacations or they never happen. My husband is really hard to pin down with that sort of thing and I finally got him to plan one to CA in November...now he's a believer. Having the time to plan (and pay for) the vacation in advance was a big draw for him this time!!

I love that last photo of the old building.

Very nice! for once it looks like the weather was better there than here. It's an interesting city, that's for sure!
I once drove to Victoria to watch a single exhibition hockey game. It turned into a two week adventure.
Great photos BB...

Hi Betty! Oh, how I have missed you!

And you're absolutely right! We all need to do more of pinning that date down on the calendar. I am blessed to be married to a traveler and an adventurer. He pulls me along and forces my hand a lot of times when I don't feel like the adventure, but I am always so glad I did.

And Canada is just a fabulous place, both sides. Victoria is wondrous isn't it. I bet you really loved all the flowers at Butchart Gardens. One of my favorite things to do in Victoria is the age old tradition of High Tea at the grand Empress hotel.

Thanks for sharing your vacation pictures. I love coming over to your blog.

Hooray for holiday vacations with the whole family! Beautiful photos, as usual. I took some in San Diego that I thought you'd appreciate, style-wise. No idea when I'll edit them, but not before the 180 from Christmas for sure.
