Truckin' With Betty

I saw this truck in a parking lot the other day and it just so happened I had my camera in hand.

I thought this truck had a lot of character.
I especially love the dogloo in the back.

Hope you have a happy day!

I have always wanted an old truck like that! Though perhaps not quite so "used".

Trust you to make a beat up rusty ol cranky thing like this look very dignified and strangely compelling! Esp. with that dogloo!
:-)
Lovely!

My neighbor has that same exact model truck and he would cry if he saw these photos. His is in mint condition and painted orange and blue, the color of the Florida Gators.

I have such a weakness for old trucks. as a teenager, all my brothers and uncles and my dad, drove old pickups like this and I loved driving them around. It's strange, but I felt so girly in them.

One of these days, I keep threatening to trade my mom SUV in for an old truck.

I have a picture of that truck on my bulentin board at work! Well one VERY similar to it, along with a picture of an expensive Cattie. It's a reminder that we all would love to have the high end, best there is 'stuff' when in the end, the simpliest of things works just as well...

Oh the stories that truck could tell!! Maybe it belongs to a man who spends lots of time in the dog house. MOL
Happy Weekend Madi

The dogloo is tooo funny, guess the owner spends a lot of time in there...

Did you stick around and see who the truck belonged too?

Jennifer Shirk said...

Whoa. if that's not a truck with character I don't know what is!
The steering wheel is classic.

I think there's been a lot of living in that truck.
Good pics of it.

A truck of a self made man.I can fix anything , sort of, kind of guy.The steering wheel could be a little rough on turns.Hey he probably could have done your plumbing for you and you passed him by!

Guess he's going for the original look instead of adding duct tape to the mix.

Pat said...

It certainly DOES have character! And thankfully that CHARACTER didn't catch you eyeing his truck up and down! LOL!

Is that a push-to-start button? Love those!

Sara said...

Did it have that old truck smell? It's somehow universal.

Mellisa Rock said...

Oh I love it too! So much history right? Wonder what the owner would have thought about you crawling through the window to get a shot of the inside though. :) Have a great day!

It reminds me of a truck that a high school friend drove back in the day ;-)

This reminds me of an old truck my father in law had. His was in much better shape, but the color is similar. No dogloo though.

Venassa said...

Haha the poor steering wheel of that truck. Love the dogloo though.

If I saw that truck, I would have taken pics of it too!

I wonder how many poor little critters that thar' truck has run over? Skunks, rabbits, hedgehogs, cats, dogs, deer, squirrels, chipmunks and such? Probably enough to fill a small forest.

Were you at Walmart? Looks like a Walmart shopper to me!

is it still road worthy? Your photos are cool.

KLZ said...

I wonder if the dogloo is where the driver actually sleeps.

Liz said...

so you saw the truck and decided to go back to your car and do a photo shoot???

you're a true one-of-a-kind, betty!

i'm not sure how that steering wheel hasn't collapsed.

i LOVE your new header!

LittleSilkDress said...

Oh my goodness! A truck almost exactly like that (but shiny orange with no rust) sits right in front of our house. The neighbor rarely drives it and I CAN'T STAND IT (especially when backing out of the driveway). However, telling people to look for the ugly orange truck makes it super easy for them to find my house :)

Whoa! I wonder how many miles that baby has on it!
Great pics.

I would say that the owner of this truck has definitely seen some of the USA in his cheverolet :)
Too bad you didn't hop in and get a shot of the odometer too

I adore your guts to go snapping pictures like that in public!!! You are soooo cool!! Your header: It's the best thing I've seen today! Stunning!

That thing would never pass inspection here in PA!!!! Don't tell me someone is still DRIVING it!??!

WAY COOL PICTURE!!!

I think I love that truck.

Now that truck is reminiscent of trucks I knew back in the day....

Oh, god. Someone has probably taken a picture of my car, whose paint job isn't far from that truck's, and said the same thing on a blog somewhere.

Hey, at least it's probably paid off. My grandfather had a really old truck once, and it actually had a backup gas tank. That's right, two tanks. I wouldn't mind a backup tank for those days I'm running on fumes.

What I like to tell people when they see my bad paint job is at least I dont' have to worry about dings in the parking lot or washing it all the time, and I don't.

Sarah said...

Character? Definitely! But by the looks of that steering wheel, I think someone is having a problem letting go :)

Keats The Sunshine Girl said...

Certainly a great conversation piece! It has seen better times too.

Poetic Shutterbug said...

Well, it does tell stories, though probably not good ones :)

I love old pick up trucks.

I dont' know why, but I do.

No one in my family has ever had one...

oh...wait...in south america, they had an old 1940's one.

Maybe that's it.

Anyway, I love old pick up trucks....

This one is a rare beauty.

Love the pics. I always carry my camera in my pocket too, you never know what you might come upon.

This old truck took me back to memories I had when I was around 10 years old and would spend the summers at my aunt and uncles diary farm. They had an old truck just like this and I would go with "Uncle Sal" and drive in the pasture (truly a bumpy ride) and throw off hay from the back to the cows. Sometimes he would let me drive, oh how I remember that clutch!!

thanks Betty for the memories. I also totally related to your 'old mirror' post!!

You know how they say, "if walls could talk"? I'm thinking, "if steering wheels could talk". "Dogloo" is hilarious...is that really what they're called?
