Playin' With Betty

A new playground recently opened up at the park near us.

Apparently the families of our town are desperate for excitement and glamour.

It's been busy, busy, busy with kids ever since it opened.

Sonny Boy and I took an early morning walk awhile ago, before the crowds arrived.

We tried out some of the play equipment. It was fun!

So, since exercise is good for us and we need more of it, why aren't there any playgrounds for adults?
Think about it. Wouldn't it be fun?

i would totally be down with a grown-ups' playground. right now, all i have is my couch. and that isn't fun or calorie-burning.

Looks lovely and fun. It's a good thing you posted these pictures before the kids attack and the equipment gets old week.

It would be too expensive to build with all the equipment having to hold at least a kajillion pounds.

:)

It looks like a fun place.

I'd love some parks or playgrounds with slides & swings & teeter totters that were made to hold more than 65#'s at a time!

Very colorful and I love the perspective.

What colour here. Parks always are fun. As Sherri mentioned, a great way to burn calories by running around kids.

Have a rocking weekend,
Susan

I totally agree!!!! I think we should petition and picket...

Yeah, why don't they have parks for us old farts?

I know, they'd have to be superpadded cuz of the Osteoporosis and stuff, but, still, it's a great idea!!

I'm with you on the adults' playground idea :-)

At our local university branch, there is a running track with exercise stations every so often along the way. You can get off the running track and do the exercise. Chin lifts; crunches; etc. Kinda cool!
I love your new playground. The colors are awesome!

I love that last photo. Looks like hangers. I imagine that that's what Barney's closet looks like. Rows of big, purple hangers.

I've never seen a purple and green park before! And this one looks so clean and perfect. I think you need to go back in a year and show us what it looks like, just to make me happy ;o)

Ahhhh....memories. Memories of mean little Mario pushing me off the monkey bars and down the slide. Ah yes. Playground equipment brings back memories, alright.

Oh..that could be a great story. Just imagine how we adults would hurt ourselves! How sore we'd be in the morning!

A playground for grownups would be a great idea... as long as there was an EMT on duty 24/7.

There's now a specially designed playground for er.... "older people" in Hyde Park, London equipped with lots of gym-like equipment. Does that count? :-)

Thanks for these amazing pics - form and structure in glorious purple and greens! Hope you and your son had a fab time!!

Take care

The world is my playground!!!

I'd love a playground for adults. I think the main reason we don't have it is it's a lawsuit waiting to be filed.

Why didn't they have playgrounds like this when we were kids? We were limited in the ways we could inflict severe injury. Not fair!

Who says you can't join,I enjoy a good swing.I stop at one park with wax paper because of the twin slides that are about 35 feet long and 4 ft. wide. You are a hit when you pass the wax paper.

VERY cool, Betty. The problem is, I can't fit on some of these playground contraptions!!!

That is the fanciest playground I have ever seen! If there were adult playgrounds, then there wouldn't be so many kids traumatized from watching my fat butt comming down the slide behind them.

Exactly! Why AREN"T there playgrounds for adults?

Well aside from Branson, Vegas, casinos... Nah. I would trade those for the chance to ride a me-sized Big Wheel! Rooooom! Roooom!

I'd love an adult playground, they would have to up the weight limit tho. I love these colors, my fav. How did you get them high shots? Did your hubby lift you up?

Is this playground the source of your header picture of the carousel? Love the colours. And love your pictures.

It does sound like fun. :-) Cool pictures, Betty. Enjoy your weekend!

Now see, Crazy Cat Lady - that's got some style. What do we old men have to look forward to being called? Weird Dog Guy? Mad Mutt Man? I dunno. But good blog.

Why do the playgrounds of today seem so much more colorful and hip than when we were young?? All I remember is dark asphalt and steel....however that never stopped me from having a blast! wasn't recess just the best!!

I would LOVE a playground for adults. I still love to swing. And I'd have fun on the slides, too. I just love your new header photo - it's fabulous!

Aging Mommy said...

Do you know how often in the last couple of years I have asked that question? I love swings and slides and you know we adults all could do with goofing around on an adult sized playground once a day. You write the letter to Obama and I'll sign your petition :-)

Betty! I have missed you! I am so glad to be making the rounds in my beloved blog world.

And wow, that is one super cool playground. I wish we had one like that around my neck of the woods, I'd be knocking kids off to play on it.

HulaBuns said...

Oh man! I would love to go there. My friend and I just recently went to a park to swing on the swings. I would recommend that if you didn't do it already! :)

Ann said...

I could certainly use a playground. That one is very colorful. Nothing like they used to be when I was a kid :)

Hey, BB, thanks for stopping by and following me. I'm upset for you. I mean, there you were, at 400. I was so happy for you when I clicked off. Hang in there, 400 will come again!!!

I think it would be great. I still like to feel the wind in my face as you go racing down the slide, or flying high on the swing. Don't think I would let go and jump out of swing now a day though.
Thanks for stopping by my blog.

Yeah, but someone would soon enough bring the booze and it would just get messy. Imagine a bunch of adults all hanging at the park on the monkey bars smoking and drinking. It wouldn't be pretty.

Looks like so much fun!

That first picture of that zip line thing - we have one of those at my school. Yesterday a kid was waiting for his turn and someone zipped it back to him... he was not looking and it nailed him in the head. 23 stitches!

Cool colors though.

You are so right! It would be a blast!!

BTW, love the new header!

Oh yeah! One time I went to a company picnic... where they had a couple of bouncers for the kids and one for the adults. It was awesome!

Coool coool coooooool pics betty! I am alittle uncoordinated and would surely damage myself on the playground this day and age. The last time I went to the park w/my daughter and sat on this weird flower shaped seat, I ended up twirling around and around and almost passed out!!! I'm not that exciting, you see, and this was way too much for me!

I think it's a great idea. I'll meet you in the sandbox!

Playgrounds for adults--what a terrific idea. Maybe it would help us all learn how to share and play along with our friends a little better.

It's a cute playground near your house there,
