Monday Morning Flowers and Vanity Update

Good Monday Morning, Betty People!

Hope you had a great weekend and are ready to face the new week with vim and vigor, with all the enthusiasm and tenacity of those nutty people who don little tiny swimming suits and jump into icy waters.

Thanks to everyone who made the trip over to Leanne's blog for my guest post. I appreciate your attendance there!

Many kind, well-meaning people have asked for an update on the vanity which HOB and I attempted to install last weekend. Oh, how we jumped into that project with the aforementioned vim and vigor! (We did not, however, wear tiny little swimming suits while doing it.) Well, this is the view of the new vanity from my bed:

It Mocks Me

You will note that it is out from the wall. The top is not attached; water does not flow from the faucets. This is because we are waiting for a plumber to come and fix some pipe problems and hook up the water to the vanity. We have left messages for two plumbers, but apparently, plumbers are not known for their promptness nor timeliness in returning calls.

So there it sits. I stare at it and it stares back at me. I hear it snicker at me as I pass by it, on my way to the sink across the house to brush my teeth. "I remain free. I am untethered. I am not enslaved by your expectations," it says in a whisper and pitch only I can hear.

Oh yes. It mocks me. I stare at it for hours, planning my revenge....

OK! Time for some cheery flowers to start off your week, don't you think?

Here's to a great week ahead!

Betty salutes you and wishes you the best!

Of course plumbers aren't known for promptness. They are know for revealing parts of themselves that no one cares to see :)
Thanks for the salute and the flowers. Very pretty and they smell just divine.

Projects like that never go according to plan, do they?

Oh woe be unto you and HOB....what is it with trades people not liking small jobs....we have the same problem here sometimes. They are after the big bucks...but they seem to forget a tiny job done well often leads to a very large job. Not to mention word of mouth free advertising for a job well done.
Good luck

I love that dark wood peeking out from behind the door so I hope that plumber gets to your house today Betty. I'm so excited!

And the flowers are gorgeous.

That bottom flower is rather interesting.

As for plumbers, Craig and I are always amazed. The economy has been bad for how long and service providers STILL don't jump at the chance to every bit of work they can have!

Now to break your heart, I have Joe the Plumber, and he apoligizes if he can't be there that day. Nice to live in an small area where they remember who feeds their families.Enjoyed your dahlias.

Many an object has mocked me as well. You will have your revenge.

What kind of flower is that last one? I have never seen a flower like that before! I'm very intrigued. :)

I'm sorry your vanity mocks you. Cruel!

That last flower is breathtaking. You should keep that up somewhere on your blog.

Here's hoping the plumber shows up soon AND that he says no to "crack". Ha ha

Love them flowers!

I hate plumbing jobs!
Don't like them!
I have no vim for a plumbing job.

I wish you well on this!

Flartus said...

Are you sure the vanity is mocking you? Is it possible that it's actually sitting there forlornly, plaintively but silently wondering when you will find someone to fix it to the wall and allow it to do its job in all its burnished glory?

'Cause that is one pretty vanity. Shame to have it so nonfunctional. Curses!

I salute you back. :)
Have a great week--and hope your sink gets re-attached.

Hope you get faucet water soon, the flowers need 'em!!!

Well at least the pretty flowers are cooperating!

I love your Monday posts. They are a great start to my week. Sorry about the vanity. At least you know you will get the final revenge! We have so many half done projects going on around our house that it is making me crazy. If we could just find the pause button on the children we could get so much more done! Have a great Monday!!!!

That vanity is mean!! You should plot something really good for it.

Beautiful flowers!! Thanks!! :D

Thank you for the pretty flowers and your kind response on my blog. I never, ever let tim do plumbing...this is the one handyman thing he is banned from. We have had certain disaster over the years that involve plumbing attempts gone awry. I really like the look of the vanity. Hopefully soon it will not just be a room decoration but a useful item as well. I told you we just remodeled our bathroom and my husband had a tub by his bedside for over a month. He kind of missed it when it was installed...LOL.

Contractors have explained to me that they are the scum of the earth and only get business in spite of themselves.

I think of this with every phone call that they apparently ignore.

Okay so the first flowers are dahliahs and the second too...maybe...but what is that last flower? It's beautiful!

And about that vanity...just rude of it to mock!

TS Hendrik said...

At least the vanity is nice to look at. Course I doubt art is less what you had in mind for a sink and would prefer it to actually dispense water.

Lovely, lovely flowers. What kind is that last one?

KLZ said...

Plumbers really know they've got you over a barrel, don't they?

Just put some flowers on it and it will feel much better.

Wrestle that vanity and make it behave! Great flowers,

Jane

Thanks for the flowers, once again. They're beautiful!!!

Trying to play catch up now....wish me luck. (Hopefully more luck than you've had getting that vanity installed!)

The flowers are beautiful! The vanity is very pretty... does that make the situation feel better?

We are putting a new bathroom into the basement. We've been doing it for the past, oh five years. The hold up? You guessed it, waiting for the plummer! He came put in a few lines, left, came back ran a few lines, left, came put in the shower basin, left. Still waiting him to come and finish.....

I love that you are plotting revenge on inanimate objects. I, too, plot revenge on inanimate objects - now I know I'm not the only one!

Daisy said...

I'm glaring back at that vanity for you, Betty. It has no right to taunt you like that. :D

Thanks for the flowers! They are lovely. I especially like the last one. Hope you have a good week!

Lin said...

That vanity screams "freedom" to me, so I kinda like the message it sends subliminally. Free yourself from the ties that bind. Don't let the wall (or pipes) restrict you. Be your own person/vanity. And my favorite: If you are gonna stand for something, be prepared to stand alone.

That is a very wise (and independent) vanity, Betty. I'd leave it right where it is. ;)

I too hate plumbing, we actually worked most of the day yesterday trying to unclog a drain which resulted in a Sunday call to the plumber, yes he cleared it up quickly and smiled as he walked away with a large check.

Thanks for the beautiful flowers and heres hoping the vanity will be attached in its proper place soon

Beautiful flowers. I don't envy you having to wait for plumbers. My building just went through 4.5 months of repiping. Oiy!

Ha ha enjoyed reading that.
In some places the "Plumber" is a rare commodity.

Gee I had forgotten all about the vanity and when I saw the title of your post...well...not that I think Betty is VAIN or anything like that. No, no, no...Betty is SWEET. (Yes, that's it.) Is it by chance moving any closer to the bed? I feel like I'm reading a Stephen King novel here. :-)
