Betty's Lament and Potty/Punctuation Humor Too!

Betty People!!

How this whole working-for-a-living thing has gotten in the way of my blogging! I have been on the go and have not had much time to relax and visit my bogging peeps. I truly miss buzzing around the blogosphere and seeing what you've been up to. This weekend, I intend to pretty myself up, sit down at my computer, and devote myself to you entirely.

Can you handle the passion?

Alas, now I must go teach my Intermediate Composition class the proper way to use a colon. I think we should all use our colons responsibly. An improperly used colon can be embarrassing. Don't you agree?

(Can you tell Betty needs a break? Perhaps I should just join Mable on the windowseat....)

Your right...colons can be dangerous if not used properly. :)

Good luck!!!!

P.S. I like your new header. :)

an improperly used colon is probably the closest I get to living on the wild side :) I agree that working for a living does interfere with the important things in life, such as blogging.

Haha! Nothing worse than an inappropriate colon :)
Mable looks very comfy...

I wouldn't turn my back on an improperly used colon.

I keep telling hubby if he would just get a second job, I wouldn't have to work... he does not think I'm funny. Cleary, he does not love me as much as I love myself. :) (just kidding...)

Mable looks like she knows what is important in life ~ ha!

Hope you get everyone using their colon properly.

Proper use of a colon... for some reason, a variety of Uranus jokes popped into my head!

Beautiful kitties and a good dose of my morning smiles. Thanks for that. Looking forward to your blogosphere visit.. just leave my colon alone. My semi-colon too.

I agree with Alex a bit, punctuation used properly helps a writer write some good s...
Perhaps another lesson on the four writes, a allusive homonym.Fun to hear from you Betty.

Yep, watch that colon use or you'll get a colonoscopy!

Hillarious! I, for one, only use a colon when I need to make a list. For example, here are a few characteristics that I would use to characterize your blog: charming, funny, and witty. Maybe you should get all of your students to start a blog??

And regular use of our colons results in lots of happy faces :) :) :) (One must also give credit to the right parantheses involved)

I'm amazed you do any blogging during the academic year, to be honest. And I think I speak for many of us when I say that your efforts are truly appreciated.

Aww. That Mable is just asking for you to sit by her. Do it, Betty. Sometimes you need to forget those troublesome colons and focus on the better things in life.

And a misused colon is a frightful problem. Glad you are on top of it!!

Mable rocks. and that first kitty looks like my Stanley. Hope your students know where to put their colons.

I love me some colons. hahaaa Of course, I am a retired R.N., so of course body fluids and I (or should I say ME, English teacher?) are well acquainted....and as far as I can tell, being by the cat on the window seat is DEFINITELY the place to be!!

Aging Mommy said...

I think Mable has it made. As for colons, as I get older I'm just grateful that it and all other bodily parts still function. OH sorry - you didn't mean that sort, what other sorts are there? :-)

Flartus said...

Although I frequently run rampant, sprinkling semicolons too liberally in my writing, I still maintain the highest of respect for the most admirable colon.

'Cause, you know, where would we be without our colons?

Hi BB,
Oh yes indeed we all need to be kind to our colons and not misuse them or they will turn on you....
Madi is ready to jump on on the window seat for a friendly chat.

Can I join Mable on the window seat also? That's definitely the kind of break I need also. :)

Responsible colon usage is a necessity, I completely agree! I've heard that improperly using a colon can result in severe issues. Thanks for the advice:::::)

Have a great day today! Working for a living is for the birds if you ask me. ;)

It looks like Mabel IS a windowseat!!! Yikes--I thought Hobbes was ottoman-sized.

I'm with ya, pally. There is just no freaking time to visit the blogroll these days. And now add in all my fav shows are back on TV and I've got NO time for just me. Sigh.

Well, I'm just gonna visit as many as I can in a day. Know you always have a mulligan at my place, Betty. I'm all about turning off the computer and living, so know that the door is always open when you have a minute to hang at my place. No strings attached. :)

I am a big colon advocate, I utilize mine regularly.

I hope you have a happy, peaceful, relaxing day. Don't worry about visiting & tiring yourself out further. Get a break. We love you anyway!

That is one fabulous relaxing kitty!

Have a good break from blogging. You're pretty busy. Look forward to your visit this weekend.

Mable looks absolutely blissful. I vote for joining her. :-)

Well, crap; I am partial to the semi-colon myself. And after that the period. BUT WE WON'T EVEN GO THERE.

I don't see what the big deal is. Just send them into the bathroom to have a seat. They'll use their colon eventually.

Hi Betty:
Did I use my colon correctly? I love the word "lament". Do you know what would be great? If you could put a little English comp lesson on your blog about once a week. I, for one, often get confused regarding semi-colons. I know that I could go look it up, but I'm much more likely to remember it if I read about it in a Betty Blop Post (BBP). Then again, maybe you prefer to leave the job behind when you are blogging.

Smiles Betty! Those kitties are just gorgeous: if we could all just learn to stretch and relax the way they do so naturally.

As for the dangerous colons... I've never gotten that right and at my age, who gives a crap!

Mable looks happy. If reincarnation exists, I want to come back as a cat.

I once handed in a brilliant paper on the life of Rembrandt, but was stunned to see it covered with red ink when it came back to me. The top of the paper was scrawled with this: "I think you need to review the proper use of the colon."

I studied up on colons (though I still consider it a weak spot for me) and learned that abusing your colon is NOT a good thing!

Love your blog.. Im glad Eva brought me to you!! im following Now...

First, yes, a big mess can be found if you are not using your colon properly.

Getting all gussied up to visit us is so sweet as I sit here in my sweats being a bum.

I don't work a 9 to 5 right now so it doesn't get in the way of my blogging. When I begin to look for a 9 to 5 it's going to have to be an at home job so I could sneak in my blogging.

Last but certainly NOT least - I absolutely love that first photo.
