Monday Morning Succulents and and Just a Short Betty-Chat

Good Monday Morning to all!

Just in case no one told you, it's the last Monday in August.
Could it be that September is just around the corner?

Hope you brought gloves to pick up this week's flower delivery.
I thought a change would do us good, so I brought out some succulents this morning.

Are you ready?
Can you handle it?
Are some of you perversely pleased by these little spikes that may or may not match your personality this Monday morning?

One of the sweetest bloggers on the web, Leanne, of From Chaos Comes Happiness offered to make a button for me!
At first I said no because everybody knows I am not a button-grabber and did not want one of those awkward social situations in which I look self-serving and pig-like by not reciprocating.

We had several therapy sessions in the form of e-mails until I threw caution to the wind and said, "Make me a button!"
She did! She made me my very own BUTT-ON.
Isn't it just ducky?

Thanks again to Leanne who has done her best to make me look cool!

In other news:
My last post featured a collection of tracks and many of you were concerned about the scar I placed in there as a reminder that life leaves its tracks upon us at times.
(Heavy concept! Oh Betty is DEEP! )

The scar I featured there is one of two that Evan has upon his wrist from this break that occurred in January while he was snowboarding:

Since succulents require little or no care, you'll have time to read up about that accident at this post. Here.

Never fear. He now has two metal plates in there now which come in very handy for prying off the tops of bottles etc.

Hope you all have wonderful weeks!!!

Who wants to become a writer? And why? Because it's the answer to everything. To ''Why am I here?'' To uselessness. It's the streaming reason for living. To note, to pin down, to build up, to create, to be astonished at nothing, to cherish the oddities, to let nothing go down the drain, to make something, to make a great flower out of life, even if it's a cactus.

Oh I love your button!! LOL!!! How brilliant is that!

And BB!! Succulents/Cacti - my favourite things on these planet flora and fauna wise. They are very forgiving, very wise and will flower for you at the most unexpected of times!! They're just wonderful! I love these pics - they bring out their thorny beauty!

Oh BB!! That was your son with the scar?!?! And that's his bone all broken?! And that's his metal plate thingy?!?! Oh my goodness!! What on earth happened?!!?

Oh there's a link to solve this mystery - off I go to read it now!

Good grief!

Take care

1) Love the butt-on.
2) As always, amazed at the beauty you photograph. Just beautiful!!
3) I don't believe I've ever seen a break so severe! Make sure he understands that's as far as he should be going to become "bionic".

I don't think I've seen Hens&Chicks since I left Kansas. Your button is adorable! Come share it with me, so I can feature you on my Thursday Concatenation. I'm loving your blog and look forward to reading all your posts. Happy Monday! :o)

Morning BB,
WHAT A cute BUTT-on!!! Now that is a button with a purpose!!! Mom's two favorite plants are succulents, the Jade and the String of Pearls.

Poor Evan that is some scar. Holy moley we're off to read about the accident. I bet it required some rehab.
Hugs and Happy Monday,
Madi and Mom

I love succulents and these are some gorgeous ones. I also love your new Butt-on, what a sweetie she is for making this for you!

BB Just read about E accident. You and HOB had a long wait for your 2nd born to return repaired. Thank goodness for smart physicians with skilled hands.

I had to chuckle at the Cat Fancy Magazine....nothing like a cat telling one how to relax and nap.

Hugs Madi and Mom

Succulents are wonderful. I'm intrigued by them & want to grow more of them. So far not a lot of success except for one I have in a pot that keeps coming back each year.

Kazzy said...

I really didn't see too many succulents until I became a westerner, but I think they are really interesting.

That break looks awful. I hope he is healing up and regaining full function of that wrist!

Leanne said...

Owwww! rough break for son, but what character it adds! He'll forever be impressing folks with the scar (he should carry around pocket sized xray scans - that would work with the story!)

And re: The button ... Oh, dear Betty! Thanks for the kind words, but you know the only reason I did it was for my very own selfish desire to PROUDly display a Bossy Betty Button on my blog! Thanks for making that come true!!! The DUCK is just fantastic, Betty!!! Have a great week!

I love the succulents and the BUTT-on. As for the snowboarding injury, ouch! Though from my one and only snowboarding experience, I can say that this is not surprising. I was lucky to make it home without breaking anything.

I think one word pretty much covers this whole post: OUCH!

And then I have a question...what is the point of buttons? If you were to "grab somebody's button," what would you then do with it? I feel ignorant and confused. But at least my bones are in one piece. (Each...not that they've all fused together...oh dear, it IS Monday, isn't it?)

I love that first picture!! It was a hard choice, but I think it's my fav.

I was just commenting to Tom last night that it's hard to believe August's end is here. What a month!

Love your button... it's somehow a perfect choice (er... that doesn't sound nearly as sweet asI mean it to be). said...

Succulents with sharp edges define my existence. I love it.
I'm glad Evan's okay and can pry off bottle tops. Send him over here, please.
PS Great butt-on. Great friend to make it for you!

Nice duck butt!

I have several jade plants in my house and an aloe that has begun demanding it's own window...

Ouch! That break must have been nasty!
I'm a bit of a sucker for them but can't seem to grow them, managed to kill a cactus once!
Great photos and button ;-)

OUCH! That's all I can really say about this post. (I know Betty warned me about those succulents). Just OUCH! Well, that and Happy Monday!

Love, love, love the butt-on! It is truly perfect! Leanne can be a little Miss Pushy when she really wants to be. ;) (As her sister, I'm allowed to say this!) Maybe I should say she "strongly encourages" something she believes in!

WOW! did your pricklies capture my emotions today? Got up at 5:00 to electricity.

God had other plans. At least a freezer full of organic meat survived. Yep, bright side girl here in Normal.

Blessings, Betty!

Cute button and the succulents are beautiful in your pictures - but in real life (for me anyway) not so much. Hope Evan is healing nicely.

That is one nasty break! hope he healed well.
Your new button looks super cute

Wow - therapy really does work then, if you were persuaded into the making of a button! I like the results. Not keen on the replacement of roses with cactus but as always you photograph them just brilliantly. Wow that was one very nasty break your son got.

Eileen said...

Love the quote at the end. I love your photographs. And good to know e-mail therapy works. I'm not a big button person, either, but yours turned out great. :)

Marlene said...

First - I love your BUTT-on. :)

Second - The cacti fits PERFECTLY with my prickly personality...AND, they hardly require constant attention! YAY!

Third - glad to hear you didn't injure yourself - but, wowza.....your son's got one nasty break there.

I love your 'button'!! So glad you gave in! You deserve a 'button'!! :-)

That was quite a break. Yikes!~

Yeowch! That's quite a break.

Pat said...

Great succulents. In fact, I just like saying the WORD succulent.

Yowzer that break looked bad!

Gigi said...

Those cacti describe me perfectly today! Prickly. Granted I didn't wake up that way - but events occurred in such a way that I ended up being that way. But stopping by here has cured me! Thank you!

citymouse said...

Very cute butt... I mean butt-on! It suits your sassiness.

The succulents are pretty cool. We don't have a ton of them in these parts but Chicks and Hens are fairly popular. I buy little pots of succulents and cacti, etc at the market and then always kill them. I either over or under water them. I just keep trying.

Debbie said...

Yikes! That wrist looks painful!
But the succulents look good.

Connie said...

Oh, I love all the pretty patterns and designs and swirlies of the succulents, Betty! Very nice!

As for the wrist--OUCH!!

Happy Monday to you! :D
