Can they make fireworks that make no noise?? I just don't like that part. My neighbor used to do a "Home Display", and my very favorite were "Pagodas". They were little flat spinny things that would go all over the driveway and at the very end, it would stop and pop up into a little pagoda. It was hilarious!

I love this! Remember those Glow Worms? You light them and put them on the sidewalk, and it looks like a big fat black worm crawling out of the cement. I remember they would leave a black stain on the sidewalk for a long time, just as a rememberance.

They look so pretty and festive in their wrappers. Fireworks aren't legal in my hood (or state for that matter). Light one for me.

everything is legal here, everyone is lighting them off all night...Drives me nuts. My 100lb dog is jumping in my lap, my kids keep comming down stairs "I can't sleep mom" and the 2 year old is up crying about the big booms! sheesh...I find mortors in my back yard.
Happy 4th!! Pray my house don't burn down. :)

As always I love every photo - you have an eye for the hidden beauty in the most ordinary of things

I love the colours and the cartoons and the cartoonish-names for such potentially dangerous (only when not used properly!!!) things!

Vivid shots as always! Thanks for sharing!

Happy 4th of July!!!

Take care

I haven't seen any up close and personal yet this year but I've been hearing them all around me!

I wish we could see a beautiful display of fireworks, without all the noise that rattles my innards and hurts my ears.

For the first time in many years I visited a fireworks stand last year. All I wanted was Roman Candles to shoot off in front of the grandkids. I was baffled when they asked, "What kind?"

I learned that there were four kinds. Things have gotten complicated.

I ended up with the kind that not only shoots the balls into the air, but each ball then explodes into a little star burst.

Your wonderful pictures brought back that memory of standing there like an idiot in front of a sixteen year old clerk while he patiently explained that the world have moved forward.

When I was a kid we had fireworks, sparklers, snakes, all kinds of cool things. But now, so many warnings I'm afraid to go outside.

Reminds me of Independence Day when we lived in the foothills of Monrovia. Back in the day, personal fireworks were allowed. My dad made all sorts of stands and a pinwheel that spun with the power of certain fireworks (bottle rockets?). Fun times. Our town allows "safe and sane" fireworks, too, so Corey and I will be taking a stroll through the neighborhood in half an hour or so.

Hope you've enjoyed a lovely day!

OH NO...got my hand burned from some fireworks, so I let others shoot them off from a distance and I watch where I am safe. Glad you had a blast on the 4th...

I love to watch professional fireworks but I'm a real baby when people buy fireworks and set them off. I'm scared that someone with blow their hands off or start something on fire!

Great pics though!
