Back on the Road with Betty

The trek back home continues and with no stops from those nice law enforcement officers!

Sister Marlene and I drove across western Kansas and into Denver. HOB flew into Denver from Los Angeles and today he and I set out across Colorado and into Utah.

We are staying in Moab, Utah tonight. We got in early enough to go hiking at the Arches National Park.

Gorgeous!!

There's a glimpse of HOB and Betty under one of the arches!

We plan one more hike early in the morning and then we travel onward. Tomorrow night Betty takes off her hiking shoes and puts on her stilettos and sequined gown.

That's right: Next stop, Vegas, baby!!!

this is too perfect! My husband and I are thinking of going to the arches park. My brother-in-law is a forest ranger and he interned there...I think he's working there now.

Some of those rocks look precariously perched and downright scary!

Moab is my most favorite place in the whole world. I'm determined to retire there. Sigh. I'm so jealous. Ok, not really.

I love those parks...someday I will go...Bryce, Zion...Arches...and try to get pictures as good as yours.
Have fun in Vegas, but the town just has not been the same since I was there last Spring...because remember that what Happens in Vegas, STAYS in Vegas...so I left a lot of stuff there.

BB once I got past the shock of Bessy the Cow (who BTW is a beauty)...I thoroughly enjoyed all the other pictures. I can see my hubby and I need to head west when I retire next year.

Have a blast tonight!!!

I just love the tension in the first photo. It looks as though one good sneeze and the rock will tumble, yet it has stood like that for years and year without ever collapsing. - G

having people in them really gives a sense of scale. it is so cool to see what looks like rock chips balanced ever so perfectly. like they might tip over with the slightest wind.

Hi Betty! I'm back from my vacation to Chicago. I'm so glad to see you are having some adventure yourself. I would have loved to hike in that gorgeous park with you.

And even more so, even though I don't gamble, I would love to dress up in the flashy gown and shoes. Have fun!

Looking forward to hearing some of the details of your journey.

I assume you'll be taking the 15 into and out of Vegas. If you come through Victorville, give a wave at the famous cowboy exit (but not his wife... *that's* even more in the middle of nowhere than us!).

Travel safely,

Shan :+)

Just discovered your blog and love your profile. I too have wondered whether I will morph into the crazy cat lady! I think I am a little closer to it than you though (not married, no kids, two cats!)

Enjoy your vacation! The Arches National Park looks fantastic.
