Bossy Betty's 500th Post In Which She Uses Excessive Similes and Potentially, Though Not Intentionally, Insults Some Of Her Kind and Good Readers.

On this, the occasion of my 500th post, I pause to reflect upon this incredible journey we call blogging.

Ah, my fellow travelers! I salute you all and shower you with gratitude for all you mean to me.

We'll get to your candy later.

First, though, just like your mustached Great-Aunt who has had one too many glasses of wine at a wedding, I feel the need to spout off and say things I will probably later regret.

Get ready.

#1: It’s Not You. It’s Me.

If you look around Betty’s blog, you’ll notice it’s fairly boring in the margins. While other blogs have jumpy happy, logos, buttons and awards, Betty’s margins sit unadorned for the most part.

Pity me not, for it is of my own devising.

About a year ago when I got my first award I was so excited and happy. It was a warm fuzzy award from someone I liked very much. Cool! I copied the little picture and prepared to place it on my blog and then I read the instructions. I had to answer fifteen questions, post the answers, and then pass it on to fifteen other people.

Oh. Oh.

I stepped back and waited a day and then some OTHER nice person gave me another award with more questions that required me to post more answers and I was to pass it on to ten other people. I waited two days and then, well, you guessed it, somebody tagged me with an award and I was supposed to tag five other people.

Oh my.

Let us now consider rabbits.

I like rabbits. Rabbits are fun; they are furry and cute. They can be cuddly and when presented with one I am likely to squeal with delight, but please don’t leave me with the rabbit.

No! Come back!

I didn’t ask for the rabbit!

Wait, I have to take care of the rabbit? I have to pass the rabbit’s offspring on to others who may not even want a rabbit nor the responsibility that comes with the rabbit? Soon I have rabbits and I don’t even know where they came from or to whom they should go. Soon, I start looking at all rabbits with suspicion and some dread. NO!!! Not the rabbit!!!

I think you get the idea.

(Don’t you ever read posts in which people are passing on awards and it’s as though they have a bag full of the damned rabbits and they are hoisting them over the side of their blog on to other people with a huge sigh of relief?)

Now, before you take offense and want to break up with Betty let me repeat: it’s not you. It’s me.

No, no. It REALLY IS.

I believe I may lack a social gene.

People invite me to Tupperware parties. I don’t go. People invite me to candle parties, jewelry parties, kitchenware parties, and Cabi clothes parties. I don’t go. Believe me. One person made it clear I had hurt her feelings by declining to go to a candle party she was throwing. She said. “It’s just a way of getting friends together. You don’t have to buy anything. “ I felt bad. I went, but I could see rabbits crawling up on the laps of people the whole night. Everyone went home with expensive rabbit droppings--including me.

Other people love awards and the people who give them are sweet, kind and good people. Heck, even I like seeing my blog mentioned in other people’s blogs. However, be warned: If you want the bunny to live and hop on to spread sunshine to other blogs, don’t give me the bunny because it will die in my care. I just can’t handle the responsibility. If you want to bring the bunny by for a visit with no care or feeding required, well then, I’d love a bunny and I’d be crazy about you too.

#2. Betty is slow.

Even though this is my 500th post, I still don’t understand the blog world.

What exactly is a meme?

A McLinky scares me.

Tweeting. I don’t get it.

I don’t grab buttons. I don’t even have a button. Question: If someone takes your button, are you supposed to grab that person’s button? What if you don’t? Is that considered rude? Is it a mini-rabbit situation?

I didn’t really enjoy tag in grade school. It implies poking followed by obligation and possible physical exertion. People tag me in their blogs and I feel a sense of alarm.

Friday/Tuesday/Anyday Follows confuse me. I see people leaving comments that have nothing to do with the content of the blog, just an announcement that they are doing a Follow. Am I missing out on something? Is the purpose of a follow just to get followers? (Duh?) Is it like speed dating for blogs? Do people read the blogs they tag on a follow or is it just a mad dash around to touch on as many blogs as they can? Is this not like a hideous, frenzied party at Chuck E. Cheese? Wouldn’t it be better to have a dinner party with just a few close friends?

#3. Betty is picky.

The other day a blogger I really like suggested a blog to visit. I went there and the header was of a person, scowling, middle finger extended, flipping me the bird. I clicked away immediately. Living near Los Angeles, I can get this any day of the week out there on the freeway. Why would I want to visit the blog of a person who considers this an acceptable greeting? Why would anyone? Am I just getting old and uptight?

Well, perhaps. Read on.

There is a very popular blogger who I think is a great writer and I used to like to visit and see what was going on with this person, but I found I had to wade through about fifteen F words and about ten other assorted profanities to get through the post. Soon, I stopped going back. It was just too much. Have I mentioned I teach 18 and 19 year olds? Just crossing campus I hear the F word used as a noun, and verb, a direct object, and adjective, and adverb and that’s just in one trip to my classroom. It gets tiresome and obnoxious and, well, boring.

If I really like you (and you know who you bloggers are) I will stick around for your post even if you use a few obscenities to make a point. If I am not in the mood, I’ll just silently back away from your blog.

Oh, and don’t cuss in the comments you leave for me. My mama sometimes reads my blog and it’s just not nice.

#4. Betty is a work in progress.

Who knows? Maybe someday I will be a rabbit-wrangler extraordinaire. Maybe someday I will be a joiner, a socially acceptable gal who plays along and is accepted at all the lunch tables. Perhaps I’ll even tweet. Maybe someday I’ll start throwing expletives in my sentences. Maybe I’ll join the Follow folks in the ball pit. Maybe someday I’ll have jazzy, button/badge-filled margins. I’m not ruling any of these things out and I certainly hope my readers will be patient with me if I do try these things and love me even if I don't.

For right now though my goal is for my blog to be the equivalent of one of your favorite restaurants--the place where you come, sit in your usual booth and enjoy what’s on the ever-changing menu. It may not be the jazziest blog, nor the most exciting, but I promise to always try and serve up honest, and hopefully, uplifting fare.

OK, time to load the drunken aunt in the car and take her home now, but before you walk me into the house and lock the door, let me collapse into a slobbery, sentimental mess and say:

#5. Betty LOVES her followers.

What can I say? I appreciate all of you so much and I think about you throughout my day. Truly, many of you have become a part of my life and I look forward to my daily interaction with you. I worry about you. I laugh with you. I check to make sure your missing cat has come back home. I anticipate your posts. I pray for you. I want to come and kick you into action. I admire you. I emulate you. I support you, even in difficult decisions. I thank you for all your support as well. My boy Evan said the other day, “Mom, you may not have a bunch of followers, but you’ve got really, really good ones."

I totally agree with him.

Post 501 coming tomorrow.

The restaurant opens at 4:00am.

Your usual table will be ready.

You can even eat pie for breakfast and I won't tell anyone.

Bonnie said...

May I have some chocolate mousse pie, please? :) I love visiting your blog because it is interesting to read and you tell stories so beautifully. Silly rabbits - I don't play the award game either... nor have I ever been invited to a tupperware party or any kind of make-up party (I don't wear make-up so people have given up hope.) I have toyed with those follow games though - and have met some fun people that do actually read what you have to say... those that don't I really pay little attention to. In all honesty, I started the follow thing just to get more traffic towards my blog as a way to get my new shop viewed by more people. I prefer my close friends to visit at your diner, much more comforting and sincere. :) *and you have really good pie!* I enjoy your blog because of you, not your buttons. So CONGRATS on reaching 500! I'll definitely have some pie for breakfast in your honor!

Have a lovely day Betty!

PS can you tell I haven't had breakfast... mmmm pie.. hahaha

Congratulations on 500 posts!!! I like your blog how it is :-) I don't get tweeting either. I pass awards along, but I know some folks aren't into them and that's ok! It's the thought that counts. I agree about the follow thing...why try to get followers just to have followers? I'd rather have engaged readers than followers who never visit my blog or leave a comment. Anyway, congratulations!!! wonderful post, loved it :-)

Congrats on hitting 500! I will be sure and stop by the resturant again tommorrow for 501, but I won't be in anywhere close to 4am.

Fantastic, Betty! Made me laugh all the way through - in true Betty style. Don't change a thing - you are refreshing (believe it or not) and I love your blog more than I can even say! BRAVO on 500!!!

My Mind's Eye said...

AMEN!!! Well Said and I'm in total agreement. I've actually had similar thoughts about the awards/rabbits and your post cracked me up!!! How can I decline without insulting folks? I recently decided to politely say thank you and move on. Often when I was instructed to pick folks to pass it onto I was reminded of picking sides in elementary school. Evan summed it up quality over quantity. We look forward to returning to your cafe each day.

Wow! 500 posts? As one of your newer followers, I have a lot to catch up on!
I admire your staying power and your honesty in this post.

I love this Betty. I love how honest and kind you are, and I agree with just about everything you say. I get all nervous when i get awards because I know I probably won't be passing them on, I have a hard time making time for that, and I don't want the giver to be hurt or annoyed with me. I love your feelings on this :)

And I truly love your blog, the reason I come here is because of you and your entertaining, warm posts. You're just awesome :):):)

Sara said...

For this entire post, an Andy Rooney voice was narrating it in my head. And I love it! :) A friend once described my blog as comfort food, like stopping in to visit me at home, to chat over a cup of coffee and some warm cookies. Her comment made me just glow, and I want you to know that I feel the same about your blog. I like your little chit-chats and storytelling. They put me in a good frame of mind to start the day. And who doesn't love pie for breakfast? ♥

I LOVE YOU BETTY!!!! xoxoxoxox

Congrats on your 500th post. You KNOW I'll be sticking around for your 501st. (I'll probably still be here for your 5,001st, too!)

I LOATHE Tupperware parties. And I hear you on the rabbits. Contest rabbits as well. And as for badges and awards and all the other junk piling up my side bar, That's all going to go away very soon. I'm a writer, not an artist, and all those colors are over stimulating me so I can't imagine what they're doing to you.

Great post, I loved it. But please keep the flowers on Monday, those are the highlights of my week. Congratulations on hitting 500!

Betty, I admire you for bravely speaking your mind and saying all the things I would love to say. I have only been blogging for three months so started out joining follows and quickly realized it was not for me, for the exact reasons you spell out here. Same with awards, I made one go at it but will never do it again and could not explain any better why not than you have done.

So, I applaud you for your honesty, I salute and congratulate you for 500 posts and I promise I will be back for more tomorrow, because for me it is all about the writing, the content not the glitz and you are one of my favorite bloggers for that very reason.

liz said...

love your restaurant comparison! and i would glady be your regular. if you ever change your mind on rabbits, the chicago dog is yours. plus, there are no stipulations with listing things about yourself or needing to pass it along to umpteen people.

All perfectly reasonable, Betty.

And if we're all going to have a little something, a nice cup of coffee and a small slice of cherry pie for me, please.

Without fear of sounding like a lonely person seeking her only friends through the internet....I like you, my new blogging friend!

You said what I've thought many times and haven't put into words AND with humor to make it a more acceptable dish.

Serve it up hon...I'll be back to Betty's diner. I'll take hot tea and all the desserts you've got.

Awww Bossy Betty, I hope you have a vegetarian menu and a chocolate cake for dessert please. And a glass of el vino. Thank you.

Happy 500 post!!! I like that you open at 4 am!!

p.s. and I don't believe a rabbit in your care will not do well!! You are Bossy Betty and the rabbit will flourish and look ever so cute too!! :-)
Take care

Congratulations on your 500th post. This was actually one of the best posts I've read since I started blogging. It's a down-to-earth reminder of why I want to write and why I appreciate my visitors. The bagdes and buttons and McLinkies are all fun from time to time, but sometimes I just want to write and read what other people write, that's all. Writing is not a popularity contest, but, having said that I do always hope that people leave my blog feeling something, anything. That's all I want really.

Keep blogging just the way you do - I love it! - G

Betty, congrats on the 500th!

I love the rabbit analogy - perfect. I agree. Am also lacking social gene in this sense - in real life I am mostly an introvert, though under the right circumstances you'd never know it, if you know what I mean (white wine helps) ;)

And everything Georgina said, she put it beautifully (as she always does)

Jennifer Shirk said...

Well, Betty is definitely funny--even missing the social gene. LOL

Congrats on number 500!
I agree with a lot of this... I like getting the recognition, but it really is a lot of responsibility.
I think your blog is great, you take some awesome pictures, you are caring and sensitive, with humor thrown in.
More Betty, please!

It's not you, it's a lot of us. I tried keeping up with the awards too for awhile. Now I periodically just do a post where I try to steer people to other sites I like and to thank those who are nice enough to mention me. But yeah I agree it can build up so quickly.

And the bunny analogy fits perfectly.

Happy 500th post. Here's to the road to another 500.

I'm with you on the rabbits. I don't want them, either. Way too much work.

And thanks for putting up with me and my profanities. Sometimes, the day just needs an F bomb. But, at least I put asterisks in mine to soften the blow.

To you and your 500, my friend. And here's to the 500 to come. I know they'll be just as witty and lovely and wonderful as they've always been.

Okay, crawling back into my hole now.

500 posts?! That's a real accomplishment!

I always enjoy your blog and look forward to your flower and poetry posts. So many bloggers are just starting their families and married lives... I'm well beyond that phase of my life at this point. It's nice to have someone else in the same stage of life to follow.

(And if I'm being decadent, I have chanpagne and cake for breakfast, but you know I'll wolf down some pie in a heartbeat!)

you are a very positive person.... and i love that. you are honest and you take capture such beautiful images!!!

i completely understand about the awards, and that's okay. some people do it, some people don't. i don't understand the buttons and tags and "i'll follow you if you follow me." i hope that i do not offend anyone by not following their blogs. i read what i truly enjoy.... or what i can relate to.... and i don't want to feel OBLIGATED... hee hee... thank you for your comment on that one! =)

i think everyone enjoys your posts.... i don't think much explanation is needing, however, i always find it interesting to learn more about you! =)

i must be behind too, because i don't know how to "tweet" either.

Congratulations on your 500th post Betty!!

I am so glad I found you and I do appreciate your way of thinking, the F word believe it or not is one that turns me away also and a lot of the things going on in our Blogosphere do confuse me and like you I just don't play along.

The awards are so nice and I am tickled to recieve them but if you follow the instructions on all then your content has gone completely away, I think I will create a Rabbit award that has no instructions to go along with it, maybe call it the dead rabbit award or something Ha Ha

Love your Blog Betty, you are a good person.

Congratulations on 500 posts! Wow - what an accomplishment!

Whew! I feel SO much better reading this post. I thought I was the only one who didn't know what "meme" meant (I finally figured it out), I don't have a button, don't have a CLUE as to how to even GET a button, and wouldn't know what to do with one if I HAD it, and AWARDS? Yeah, I have a few. I posted some on my sidebar.. But I have more to post and I haven't done it, and I want to make my blog pretty but I've only succeeded in combining two backgrounds and I need help! But it's the content that counts right? RIGHT?

Anyway, I'm glad I'm a follower to YOU. I have no clue what you were talking about that other "follow" business, either.

Won't dump any rabbits your way, I promise!

Like you, I am learning.

Sonora said...

Wow! 500 posts. That is amazing. I am over 300 posts behind you. I LOVED this post. The part about the awards being like rabbits had me laughing so hard. I am sitting on several awards right now. Amen to the cussing. It really isn't necessary IMO, but to each their own. I do love participating in some meme's though. :)

DrSoosie said...

Betty you are a woman after my own heart. I feel the bunny thing too. I appreciate so much any award bestowed upon me but I have the anit-social gene too. I read blogs for the same reasons you connect, learn and enjoy what others have to say. I blog for myself to express and have others reflect on my thoughts. And you know I am like my favorrite restaurant you are in there...I am committed. And I promise no F words or otherwise from me. I too live in LA so I know what you mean. Thanks for being a great blogger and one I will continue to enjoy!!

Joanne Olivieri said...

But I love rabbits :D I like your honesty and have to say that all of these awards, meme days etc... are just a way to get people to you blog. I do have to admit though, I sort of enjoy some of the meme days as it's a challenge to get the right photo up on the post. Other than that I do have to agree with you. Happy 500th

Ally said...

Congrats on your 500th post! You are obviously loved by us all.

It's funny you mentioned steering clear of profanity-filled blogs. My husband constantly tells me to focus on good content and not "shocking" content. I guess it's easy to sell out and try to use profanity to increase page views and come up in searches, etc.

Shan said...

If Bonnie is getting chocolate mousse pie, can I get some too? It's the only way I'll have anything chocolate for another... maybe 14-18 months.

Skipping the rabbits altogether, but people who start anything with "It's just a way to... " are usually lying or in denial, especially where purchase parties are concerned.

Oh, and I do hope I haven't cursed in your comments. Sometimes I lose control of my fingers. I *swear* I won't let it happen again (if it's happened already).

Ann said...

I tried to follow the blogging pack and do the button and the awards and the tweets. None of it was me. I do, in real life occasionally use 4 letter words but I made a promise to myself that they would not make it into any of my posts. I just want to write posts that hopefully someone will read and enjoy.
I also like going to mom and pop restaurants and yep your blog is just like one of those. Besides you give me flowers every Monday and you make me laugh so you are OK in my book :)

A mutual bloggy friend whose first name starts with a "J" and has imposed isolation upon herself this week so she can work on a query letter, recommended that I come pay you a visit, and I'm so glad I did. You write for yourself, you keep it clean (which I really appreciate) and you made me laugh, which is always a big plus in my book. Oh, and you're thoughtful, but in a very clever kind of way. Again, a very big plus in my book.

Congratulations on your Big 500. That's a real milestone!

Betty - Congratulations and salutations on 500! That's a lot of work.

I understand about the awards also. That's why I haven't passed on the last 5 I received. As you know, the last one I gave out had no strings attached.

I'm not as discerning about what I read as you are, but I appreciate how you feel about it. I apologize if the offending "blog" you are talking about came from me. I have a feeling it did.

I enjoy the heck out of your writing and photographs.
I also appreciate all the input and support you give me.

Congrats on 500!

I have over 1,000 blog posts (not trying to toot my own horn, but I will) and my blog has only now become semi - popular. Before I was only writing for me and now things have changed. People are throwing me all these awards with strings attached and I have to list this and that.

I am trying to get a handle on it all. Your description of the rabbits was absolutely perfect to me. I am in the same exact boat, with the same exact rabbits I have to feed.

(It's a boat like Noah's Ark that can hold rabbits apparently.)

Anyway, I love your blog and I will continue to read it without anything in the margins and even if it is not winning any awards.

Awards make me feel weird too. I love getting them, I dont do so well as passing them on. I never even know if I'm supposed to pass them on or not.

I agree with the cursing part. I do read a couple of blogs that curse quite a bit, but I guess I ignore it. I'm not all against foul language because I use it at times myself, I just feel it's pointless in blogging for the most part.

I think some of the best bloggers are the simple ones with no buttons or memes or anything, cause those are the people who truly do it because they enjoy it, not because they enjoy popularity.

Congrats on 500 blog posts! I agree with a lot of what you say. I never know what to do with blog awards that have to be passed on to 15 (or whatever) other blogs. I pass them on because I don't want to offend the person that "gave" me the award and I do really appreciate the thought but I include a note to those I have passed the award onto to please not feel obligated to pass it on themselves if they don't want too.

Congrats on your 500th post Betty, that is a staggering number. I realized the other day that I am approaching the same number, it is a bit scary.

I love the rabbits and agree with you on the awards. I decided quite some time ago to accept with a smile and proceed to break all rules connected with awards.

What time does the restaurant open tomorrow? Is that your time or mine?

truth is...

you had me at "yellow"

its that vibrant background of yours

I was always told that you paint a room yellow if you don't want your guests to stay long. But you've blown that theory out of the water.

not sure if I ever told you this but YOU are my very first real FOLLOWER (family and friends I bribed aside).

I appreciate everything about you Betty.

your photo's, your stories, your heart, your honesty, your compassion and yes, yes, your comments :)

here is a crazy confession - I follow your followers!!! If I know you've read it chances are I will too.

The other day you left a comment for a blogger that made me want to move cross country so we could share a coast. You called him on the fact that you followed him and got nothing in return. It was so honest and I feel the same way...especially if they are a writer. I wait for writers to read me!

anyway...this is about YOU :) silly me.

Congratulations Bossay Bettay!!! you are the queen. you are better than TV. you are always a bright spot in my day - promise me you'll never change.

AND..... you are so clever and witty. I never feel like I'm reading you, its more like I"m sitting across the table from you. everything flows from your page.

lemon yellow love and respect to you my friend!

Wow!! 500 posts is something to be proud of for sure!
Betty for president!!!! Yes! I would vote for you!!
And the rabbits do multiply rather quickly.
But I look at the awards this way. They are fun and I don't follow all the rules of the rabbit. I do as many questions as I want and I give the receiver options. LOL! Also it is a great way of getting to know your fellow bloggers even better. Just saying!
Hugging you
I will make your campaign signs for ya

and for that, bossy betty, you get the HONEST SCRAP award....oops, never mind.

Loved this post, and am going to re- read it again. The pie part makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.

Love you. Very much.

And now, I'd like a piece of Bettylicious pie!!

I've liked you from day one. Don't ever change dear Betty!!

You are like a breath of fresh air in a very polluted blog world! he he said...

WOW, Ms. Betty, I'm your 80th commenter on your 500th post!? You are a woman of quality and quantity - for good reason.

I am truly glad to see that there is someone else around here that doesn't understand most of this blogging stuff. You don't happen to know what a RSS Feed is, do you?

I think you are precisely what a blogger (blogess? blogette?) should be. You are you, and you do it your way. Now if everyone else were you, this would a much more exciting experience.

I was going to give you an award with $1,000 attached, but now I know I would just get some kind of lecture about rabbit sex or something. So I guess I better just hold on to it.

And I'll also hold onto your blog. I've found a treasure.

Betty, Betty, Betty, we are on the SAME wavelength or something. Recently, since I've spent more time blogging/reading blogs I have had the same thoughts and you hit the nail on the head with the rabbit analogy, WOW! And your blog IS the equivalent of an favorite restaurant =) I look forward to catching up with you here!

OH and I'll have a nice big slice banana cream pie with my coffee =)

Congratulations on 500! You're now a blogging elite!

I'm so glad you said pie.... Not many people understand that pie is soooooo much better than cake....

I enjoy your writing and agree with all of your points here. I would never dream of visiting a profanity filled blog on purpose...what is wrong with people? It's bad enough out there in the real world, in movies, in books, in music....I will avoid it in blogs, thank you. Your Memorial Day flower post is gorgeous, by the way. Congrats on 500 posts.

Don't change Betty. Not for rabbits ( I bake them at 350* with carrots) or pie or buttons.
I like your sunny yellow blog, your pictures of your fluffy cat, and your happy walks. My life is enough of an f-bomb lately that I don't need to go looking for it.
I'm even making an effort to use my church words for my more lady like readers, because they make me smile.
Happy 500.

Well, since you were potentially going to insult me in this post, I simply HAD to read it. And then imagine my disappointment when I wasn't insulted at all. *sigh*

Congratulations on your 500th post, good lady! That's a heckuva milestone.

Also, I hear you on the awards thingy. I appreciate them, I say thank you for them, but I've taken to utterly ignoring their requirements. 'Cause I'm like that. Plus, my sidebar's gotten out of control. As if rabbits had bred in it.

Oh WOW, you have hit the nail on the head on EVERY SINGLE POINT!!!!

How brave and honest you are to write such a post. Quite fitting for your 500th. Congratulations...on so many levels!

The rabbit analogy is GENIUS. So appropriate. And do you ever get the feeling that some of these bloggers are giving the rabbits to only their regular commenters, their friends, and not necessarily the best or most interesting bloggers? I have one blog I visit occassionally...the kind lady who writes it has no writing talent whatsoever, makes horrendous grammatical and even spelling errors, posts only about her every day doings (which are quite mundane IMO,) yet constantly receives and passes on awards. After reviewing some of these awards, I noticed that most of them came from one particular blogger, who...guess what? ALWAYS on her list of recipients..even if the award came from said blogger in the first place!

Okay, I'm getting off my soapbox now. Dadgummit, I've just been given 10 rabbits of my own.

A good, honest post which expressed what a lot of us feel and think. I'm glad you sent me the link!

And I think rabbits are kinda creepy.

This post made me laugh and I can totally identify with #2- there is so much blog lingo and I feel completely lost sometimes!

500 posts is a huge accomplishment (and now you are way past 500!). Congrats and this gives me inspiration that I, too, can get to 500 posts!

Visiting you from Stalker Saturday!

Bossy Betty, I am pretty much like you, except I didn't tell anyone. I cannot handle those awards either. Or the giveaways and all that stuff you are supposed to do. I never get them done. I am already one of your followers but will be back more often now. This post was exceptional!

Hey BB! I absolutely loved this post. I am so in-tuned with your thoughts. (Except I don't like and won't read Any profanity). I'm working on my tolerance.LOL! Anyay, I have never understood awards. I know they are a "gift" given, but then how can they be a "gift" if there are rules for them? I have never received an award in life where I had to do something for it AFTER I got it. Needless to say I've only received two and I am grateful for the two but need or want no more. If people want to give me an award, stop by say hi and follow. (Really follow). You will notice that I am long-winded, and believe me I talk like I write. LOL! Ask Redhead Riter! LOL! Love your blog, and will DEFINITELY be back!
God Bless!

LOL! I'm so glad the Redhead Riter suggested this post. You have articulated those feelings that wash over me whenever I see the Linkys, Memes, Hops, and button-grabbing. Where does it end? Does it end? Ever?
