Swallows!

We were passing by the back of Home Depot and there they were--about 80 swallow nests!

They were all very, very busy.

I am so happy they found a place to build their nests.

Gives a whole new meaning to Home Depot, doesn't it?

This little guy came out to say hello!

Hope you have a happy Friday wherever you make your home!

Whoa! That is so cool. I don't think I realized that's what those were whenever I've seen them. I like the shot of the birds peeking their heads out.

Holy Crap Cakes! At least there has to be lots of them down below.

However, great pics and that is really neat. We have them in the cliffs and they fascinate me.

My boys thought those pictures were a-mazing!

They are!

Have you ever thought of sending in your birdy pictures to the Reimer publication, "Birds".

They'd be perfect there.

I life about 5 minutes from Mission San Juan Capistrano. You've just inspired me to go down there and get some new photos before they leave in October.

I think your headline shot is absolutely fantastic and worthy of print publication, Betty! I have never seen such a great still shot of a swallow near its nest in flight! You are a great photographer!

I meant to say "in flight near its nest...." Yes, the grammarian in me cringed at my lack of proofreading. Sorry!

Hi

I'm still scraping my jaw off the floor... what an absolutely wonderful, wonderful sight - I am so thrilled, so so thrilled to see these beautiful nests and birds.

Fantastic - swallows are just the best - they say Spring is well and truly here!

And I love your banner - love it.

Thank you for these brilliant pics. Go Swallows!!

Take care

Great photos, Betty! This is great, I should check out the businesses in my area to see if I see anything like this.

Wow! What a great find, Betty! And what beautiful architecture. Their stretch of nests is more decorative than that clay roof.

I bet the rest of your day was really good, too! :o)

That is amazing - I love swallows, reminds me of being a kid, watching them swoop and dive and so wishing I could do that. They are amazing birds - what a strange place for them to establish their kingdom.

I have never seen a swallow's nest before. those are so unique. Do they always build their homes so close together like that?
You got some great pictures there. I'm going to have to pay more attention the next time I go to home depot...lol

Didn't realize Home Depot was selling swallows in bulk now.

Amazing! That is the first time I have seen a swallow or its nest - and you provided an entire colony!

Let me guess -- you were dangling over the edge of the Home Depot roof, with perhaps HOB holding you by the ankles??

Jennifer McLean said...

well isn't that just the cutest thing ever! I'm betting if they ever decide to go all in and build a deck with bird bath they don't have far to go for supplies. Hehehe.

Wonderful bird pictures! I've seen them in real life, but haven't ever known anyone to think of taking pictures of their little homes -- this made a perfect photo essay. Tx for sharing.

Reminds me of the swallows who built their nests in my friend's barn as a kid…

Brought back some nice memories.

yes, yes, I know I'm wayyyy behind... but I overlooked this post when it first hit. hey, your bird buddy's put the "HOME" in Home Depot! Fantastic! We have lots of "swallow" around our home but their nests are not as elaborate. these are the same creatures that taunt our Kittay to the point where she hides under a car during most spring days.
