Road Trippin' With HOB and Betty

You just can't keep wild things like us home for very long.

We made the trip up to Sacramento this weekend to get together with some of my graduate school buddies.

Are you ready for a hodge-podge of pixels?

A pot luck of photography?

A passel of pictures?

Well, you've come to the right place.

This was on the way up. The skies here have been beautiful! (Those are almond trees.)

The Sacramento and American River run through Sacramento. We were lucky enough to stay at a hotel along the banks of the Sacramento River. I had the urge to stand at the top of these stairs and sing hits from "Showboat." I ate a lot of candy instead.

Betty loves a river!

Mollie, my friend Susan's dog--possibly one of the sweetest canines in the world.

The bathtub at the hotel. (I thought this might be the picture that excited my readers the most. Hey, I know my audience!)

After the party tonight (English majors really know how to ROCK it!) HOB and I will head home, stopping along the way for excessively large beverages and salty/sugary snacks.
Does it get any better than this?

Hope you are having great weekends!

Everything looks so yummmm and you're making the monster in me hungry when you talk of all the food!

I am jealous, if that is what you've been looking for!

GORGEOUS pictures! You really should have done the singing. I would have watched you on the news instead then and that would have been so much funner :)

1. I wonder if the trees smell like Jergens lotion.

2. Well, sure it's an American river. Oh. The American River.
Never mind.

3. Who don't?

4. Aww. Look at that face.

5. Oh boy. Look at that bathtub. Gimme a book and some bubbles.

By way of explanation for this inanity, I spent a lot of time mowing the lawn today. I think I might have a touch of sunstroke. ;-P

I hope the rest of your weekend is great!

The first picture is beautiful. The clouds came out great. I've ever seen an almond tree in person.

Mad Woman said...

Oh my gawd that bathtub is devine. I want one!! And also, while you're searching for a tub to send me, could you send me some candy to tide me over?

All right, you have convinced me to take my camera with me when we take The Daughter down to summer camp in Kerrville Texas in two weeks.
But I don't know if I can get pictures as cool as yours...

Would have loved to hear you sing! And why weren't you in the tub for the picture. Not THAT would have gotten us talking. Glad you had fun.

Great pics! But is that the Le Rivage Hotel, by any chance? If so, that's the Sacramento River - not the American. ;-)

Darn! I wanted to tell you the almond trees were my favorite, but you do know your readers. Darn, darn, darn.

Hope you're having a great weekend.

This looks like a wonderful trip full of beautiful scenery, huggable canines, candy and bubble baths. Who could ask for anything more?

You should have sang the tunes. :)

And your right, that tub is the sexiest thing I've seen this year.

Rivers, road trips, friends .. all my favorite things. Maybe I should go on one and sing about the hills being alive.

Looks like a great get-away weekend. Did you have as much fun as I'm guessing you did? Nothing like weekends with friends, no matter how interesting the locale, but you were doubly blessed with both.

I am just telling myself that in sixteen years time or so I will be able to take lovely weekend breaks with my husband like yours and soak in a wonderful bath tub - assuming in my great old age I am still able to get in and out of one :-)

The views from your hotel porch of the river are so lovely, I can understand the urge to sing songs from Showboat!

Very Nice Pictures Betty,

Looks like you both had a very nice weekend.

Cindy saw the pictures too and now I just may have to get her a tub like that :)

The photo of Mollie is the one I got most excited about. It's a good thing I wasn't visiting, or she might have ended up coming home with me in my suitcase. She looks like such a sweetie!

So I enjoyed the nature scenes. I've always been a big fan of the almond trees on the way up north. The dog made me say, "Aww."

The tub made me stop scrolling and reading. You are one smart cookie! Haha!

You are so great, Betty! And yes, you know your readers SO well! As I reviewed each photo I thought, "Oh, that's lovely. Oh, how nice." But when I got to the TUB.... I thought, "OOooooooo!!!
