Monday Morning Flowers!!! Roses, Roses, Roses

Happy Monday, my friends!

I have a delivery of roses for you today.

I had to admit, I had never been a fan of roses until lately. I figured they were like the really beautiful girls in high school. They knew they were beautiful and certainly didn't need my attention. However, lately the roses have been going crazy around here and I have learned to appreciate them. I love looking at them close-up, seeing the many different layers they possess.
Oh, and they let me borrow their lip gloss too, so now we are BFF's.

Hope you are starting your week off renewed, refreshed and just a little bit excited about what the next seven days will hold!

Youth is happy because it has the ability to see beauty.
Anyone who keeps the ability to see beauty never grows old.

These pictures are gorgeous! And I love your comparison to the popular girls in high school. You know, I think I've always felt a little bit that way about roses, too. :)

Oh wow!! What stunning roses! What loveliness to behold! Their beauty is timeless and just classic.

I love that quote. It's great to be young at heart!

p.s. you asked about Lucky, the cat with his decapitated tail? He was found with his tail and paw chopped off by some evil human. Bin (who rescued him) is now looking after him - he wasn;t well after the operation to help his stumps but now he's getting better!
So life is precious and good.
Take care

I've never been a big rose fan either, but these are lovely and I never turn down a gift. :-) Thank you. Have a super week!

The peach one's my fave!

Happy to hear of the earrings, Betty! I love when things happen that way!

Thank you for my flowers today, it is grey and cold here...

Hi

It's me again - I'm so sorry - please ignore my p.s. about lucky - it was a different commentator who asked, not you, I'm so so sorry!

Take care

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.

Said three times because they are my favorite of flowers - not the wilted sad looking kind that come in a plastic crinkly wrapper and have no smell but the beautiful, many colored kinds that look and smell so beautiful. Roses and freesias, I love best of all.

Happy Monday Betty - thank you for the photos today

I totally agree with you about the roses! But, those shots are pretty gorgeous so perhaps I need to reevaluate.

I really love roses, maybe I'm just shallow that way :) That top one is gorgeous! Thanks Betty!

Kudos for finding a way to link a beautiful flower to a sad adolescent fact of life. Happy Monday yourself.

Absolutely gorgeous. Thank you for a lovely post...your analogy was so thoughtful.

I think I'm being dense but what is that in your header?

BEAUTIFUL roses and BEAUTIFUL pictures!!! the pictures you take capture their beauty in a way i can't even describe. we have so many rosebushes around our house and they are SO beautiful and the roses were just blooming EVERYWHERE and of all different colors.... as funny as this sounds, i thought of you while trying to capture their beauty this weekend. unfortunately, i am no photographer (and i'm legally blind), SOOOO that combination didn't make for a very good turnout.... the pictures have my shadow in them, and i didn't even see that until much later.... it was dark by then. shucks. maybe one day....

and you know? i felt the exact same way about roses before we moved here. i thought, "everyone loves roses.... i don't need to love them too." and then... here they were.... just everywhere... blooming day after day and soooo many different colors and they were just breathtakingly beautiful!!! thank you for sharing such beautiful pictures!!! =)

I love roses and as you know being a So cal girl they do so well in our climate. They are hearty and beautiful and need very little to no work to maintain their beauty...who could ask for more??? Happy Mnoday and thanks for always making it a bit happier with your lovely pictures!!!

really lovely layered photos.

So pretty! Ha, I have often felt the same way about certain types of flowers. I don't need to like them, because they already know how awesome they are. Daisies kinda. Yeah, daises.

Love your blog! -Lindz

Absolutely gorgeous! I've felt the same way in the past about roses. They're the popular flower so I wanted to give my affection to other unappreciated flowers. But yes they are very lovely.

oh Betty... you are a clever. you are exactly, 100% correct about the beautiful girl/rose comparison. I never liked roses because I thought they were too common, but with age, that too has changed. I stopped to admire the buds this morning... looking forward to the first bloom.

Gorgeous roses. I have some in my front yard that are more of a wild variety, they look nice but the smell horrible.

I had every intentions of starting the week off renewed and refreshed but when the alarm went off this morning my body rebelled and I've been dragging all day :)

Beautiful Roses Betty,

I myself love growing these flowers, only have two bushes now but that will change one day, the carnival rose is one I like also.

Stop by my blog when you have time I have something for you there at http://jimmysopinion.blogspot.com/2010/05/versatile-blogger.html

A couple weeks ago, I stopped by the flower shop where I worked as a delivery guy years ago to get a Mother's Day present for my mom, and joked about how I was the "king of the 11-rose bouquet" (since so many arrangements fell over in my car) and everybody laughed...though I wasn't really joking...

"Keep the ability to see beauty." I will remember that for a long time, i know. Love the layers!

Thanks for the roses. I've never been a big fan, maybe because an ex-boyfriend used to buy me a dozen anytime he couldn't figure out what to buy me as a gift, which worked out to be pretty much every holiday, but none of the roses he gave me were this pretty.

Julie said...

I totally agree with you about roses...but when I do get them..I still love em'!! Those last two pictures are just breath taking.
Thanks Betty...you are definitely a youngin'!

I love roses, especially the pretty smelling ones. Mmm... I can smell them now. :)

Roses truly are beautiful. And popular. But oh so much work. Very high maintenance. We had a rose garden at our house that the previous owners had slaved over. I enjoyed it for 2 summers, then we pulled it all out and plowed it up for vegetables.

OMG! Those are gorgeous. I don't know how you do it, but thank you so much for sharing. :)

Betty,

you're so lucky to live in such a lush land of flowers. Here in the tropics, there isn't a whole lot of blooms.

The roses are gorgeous and your photography, as always, is an art unto itself.

Beautiful pictures. There's just something about a rose. I don't like rose perfumes, but I love smelling ones on a rosebush. I even have a rose tattoo on my shoulder.

Happy Monday to you too.

Hi Betty! I especially love the last shot but... what I really want to know about is your blog photo. What are those things? They look like nests. They are a little scary.

Clever you.. that's wonderful. Great photos.. and I'd sure love to borrow their blush.

They are gorgeous, aren't they? I love their wonderful petal swirls.

BEAUTIFUL.... great photos! I love the flowers, but hate the plants. My many thorn pricks is probably more due me being clumsy, than to the rose bush itself.

You and I share the same sentiment about roses. But I may be a changed woman after seeing these beautiful pics! Hope you are having a great week!
