Humming With Betty: Part Two

Remember that little hummingbird that came to see us the other night?
Well, we saw it again today.
Apparently, he is actually a she.
Here's what she's been up to:

She built her tiny nest in the focus tree right next to our back door.

She does her best to be in her nest whenever she can.

Today when she was away we look a little look in the nest.

This is what we found!

We are watching, waiting, and hoping for the best!

Hummingbirds are my favorite birds that hover because I can't think of another that does/ Terrific photos. Wish I had some in my back yard.

That is absolutely awesome. I have a lot of hummers in my yard in the summer but I have never seen a nest before. Mama hummingbird obviously feels safe in your yard.

Lucky you!!! Apparently you've got the right formula to make MamaHum feel safe! Enjoy each day as you get closer to "break free" day. (I can't even imagine how tiny those little ones will be!!).

Wow you got some great shots. I have to say that momma bird built herself a beautiful little nest. Look forward to seeing the little ones after they hatch

WOW!!! what a gift :) great shots, thank you so much for sharing.

When my son was young, finches made their next in his window sill. The outer screen had torn, the inner window was shut. We were able to watch them hatch and grow and then, finally leave the nest....right from his bedroom window! amazing :)

I love hummingbirds. I try to attract them each year. I seem to be more successful if I don't try.

:) I'm also on the look out for a large blue heron. (spelling?) He leaves for the winter but typically comes back around now and nests not far from my deck. He is spectacular ~

In England where I hail from we do not have hummingbirds but I so love them, they are amazing little things. We get the really tiny little ones coming to our garden here in the summer if I put nectar out for them. Your pictures are amazingly good. How exciting to have her nesting in your tree. Can't wait to see and hear more about it!

I love that! It brought peace to my soul.

A sure sign of spring! Love the pictures!

THAT is the most adorable nest I have ever seen! It doesn't even look real; with all the little bits of moss and curly paper.
It's like a fairytale in your own yard.

Those look like they are going to be the cutest baby birds or the most delicious Frittata.

Beautiful! We had a hummer nest outside our house once. It was so much fun to watch.

What a tiny little nest! You know, I've never seen a "still" hummingbird. (That means I've never seen a dead one, either.) CUTE!

I love hummingbirds! And the way they go through nectar at my house they must like me too! Great shots! Just awesome.

We had our first hummer sighting of the season at 6:50 am on Sat. April 10!!! Mom was doing a happy hummingbird dance
Thank you for sharing,

We had friends with an ivied eave that seemed to house many a hummingbird nest over the years. Here's to happy hatchings!

Beautiful shots of the nest, by the way.
